Thats right, everyone pays union dues weekly and we can provide a good retirement package for webmasters over the age 55 or so. Hell, we could put some of the money towards conventions and shit.

Can people who own their own business be in a union?

Yes it would be like the strippers tried to do but they had clubs to fight them. Actually it's a good idea in theory; we would be under the same umbrella with legal representation, retirement and medical benefits.

TheAdultCOOP is kinda/sorta like a union. At least it helps webmasters buy together to avoid getting screwed by vendors.

A webmaster Union is a fantastic thing, however you only have one problem

You can't get webmasters to agree on what pictures to post. What's obscene, What's legal what's not..


How in the hell are you going to get webmasters to agree on a union??

What I would like to see is a cartel of maybe the 50 biggest sponser programs to lay general rules about use of free content for example! I know it´s an old cliché but the amount of free porn out there is not good for the industry, and I think everyone knows that!

If the sponsers would forbid the use of more than 5-10 pics for a gallery the TGP´s couldn´t do much about it, sure they might not list people at first, but then they wouldn´t get the galleries they need and realise that they´d just have to get along with it!

55... I think most around here are thinking 45 or 35... Not to mention unions are old school...

What we do need is a group to represent us.

Against arseholes like Acacia, do the job APIC try to and draw up a set of rules that benefit everyone including the surfer.

When I say everyone I mean everyone that pays for content and keeps within the law.

If it was done right the surfer would soon realise that the "Union" logo on the front of the site meant something positive and would be more likely to sign up.
