Logging a user name in stats but not registering as a subscriber?

There is a username in the stats but I can't find it in iBill's CMI under "Search For a PM Subscriber" or in Sentry's "Manage Tracked Users"

This have seen this happen to 2 different sites now and one site does not even have a pay membership section but a user registered in the stats.

Can anyone explain what is going on or what I should do?

Thanks

someone could have exploited the script and added a user to your passfile.
:2 cents:

I just checked the .htpasswd but the username was not in there.

Are you checking real time stats or like stats from yesterday? Maybe showed up in stats yesterday, but now the user is removed from the pw file. Also, if in your stats you are looking at authenticated users--that is for any pw protected directory not just a members/pay area. So if your stats are protected or a script is protected those accesses will all show up as an authenticated user.

Not sure what stats program you are running, but even the "authenicated users"--anyone attempting an access will show as a user, whether they actually were let in or not, appearing as if that is a valid username, when its not.

In this instance you really need to check the server logs to find out exactly what is happening :)
