What are your rights when getting pulled over?
 

I just got pulled over the other day, this is probably the 5th time this month... Police Officer seeing a young guy driving a nice car, an easy target of course...I actually never fought any tickets that I've gotten in the past, but this guy was being a fucking dick. The first thing he said to me was "Why isn't your license plate display in the front" and I told him, "One of the screw fell off and I never got a chance to put the plates back on" and he reply " Don't fucking lie to me, i'll fuck you up with every chance I got" I was in shocked when he said that, i asked him "officer, can you please lower your voice and don't use those kind of language when talking to me" and he reply "don't fucking tell me what to say, i'll fuck you up so hard you won't even know what's coming" then he asked to see my ownership and insurance, but I accidentally hand him the wrong insurance slip, it was expired 2 weeks ago and I never got a chance to throw that away, but I did however have the correct insurance information too, and when he told me the insurance was expired, I knew that I had giving him the wrong one, and I gave him the other one but he threw it right back at my face, and he told me he doesn't want to see it, and he told me quote "get the fuck out, i'm towing your car" and outside, the guy fucking talk trash the whole time, try to threaten me and so forth... and at the end of the day, he gave me 2 tickets, but didn't end up towing my car cause he said I was fucking lucky...

Man this guy pisses me off so much, I wanna nail him so bad...My question is, if this guy ever pulls me over again, and acted the way he did, can I tape the conversation and use that in court against him? or would that be like entrapment or some sort...

Steal a car, and when he pulls you over. Either beat him up or shoot him.. or then you could just put a licenseplate at the front.

Sometimes cops are real fucking dicks no matter how polite you are. Not really much you can do about it, the courts really arent going to do anything unless you have video.

Fight the ticket. Get a lawyer. Bring all of this up in court. That will get the case thrown out, and get him a suspension. Then sue him for emotional distress.

His name should be somewhere, look it up and do a drive by. :ak47:

Depends where you are and if the cop has a history of this sort of thing. Around here, a pig's word is fucking golden no matter how big of a lie it is. A few towns away and the judge will dismiss all kinds of stuff if you just seem decent in court.

Back when I was 19 and I had my 87' trans am, I was a pig magnet. Most of the cops were cool and gave me no problem. Im not the kind of person to take shit from anyone, I dont give a fuck who the hell you are or what you can do to me. This one time I was driving to my parents house, and there was traffic on the road so its not like I could speed or anything - and I pull into my parents driveway... Unbuckle, ready to get out, and a cop pulls in my driveway, gets out the car, and says 'stay in your vehicle'. Im like, 'WTF did I do???????????'. He says ' you were speeding and driving without a seatbelt'. WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just took it off, and how could I speed when theres all this traffic in one lane? I went ballistic. My parents heard the comotion and came out. My pops talked to the cop and then the cop left. My pops starts bitching at me to never bitch at a cop, but wtf? That was some BS.

Not having your license plate on the front of the car is YOUR FAULT, no matter why it's not there. Been there, done that and got hell and a ticket from a cop for it.

My plate wouldn't fit, the place it went, the screw holes were so close together and I sure didn't feel like fucking with it but the cop didn't give shit.

Problem is you are now his PLAYTHING so avoid him at all costs!!!! He will haunt you just for the fun of it.

Had a friend when I was around 18 that was a big pot dealer and the cops knew it but everytime they pulled him over or stopped him walking on the street, they couldnt find anything on him. They were PISSED to say the least.

One night he got in a bad fight at a party and the cops happened to go to his house that night, to once again harrass him, and pushed his drunken ass down the stairs. (so he says lol, he was so drunk he probably fell)

Well he was all bruised up from the fight so he sued their asses. Said the cops beat him up. Bought a new toyota pickup with the $$$ and when they harrassed him and pulled him over a few more times, there was another big lawsuit and it was in the newspapers. He one that case too and the cops in question aren't allowed to "bother" him anymore.

Problem is, it's hard to prove your being harrassed if there is a reason for the pullover, plate not on car, etc. They pulled my buddy over and asked him if he even had a driver's license. Turns out he didn't, his was fake, but just cause the cops "thought" that he couldn't possibly have one, didn't give them legal right to pull him over. Now he can do anything he wants in that damn city and the cops won't even give him a second look because they KNOW he won't put up with their shit.

I could bitch for days about crooked cops, but it doesn't do me any good lol.

My advice would be if you can afford a lawyer at least take the bastard to court to make people "wonder" if he really is an asshole cop, that way if there are any other complaints, previous or afterwards, maybe he will be put in his place someday!

Oh and in most states it is illegal to AUDIO record someone without first telling them you are doing it!!! Don't get yourself into more trouble.

Maybe this cop had a bad day and you rubbed hjm the wrong way; Maybe shortly before he pulled you over he was involved in a fist fight with some drunken asshole.

when i get pulled over i turn off my engine, turn off the radio, keep my hands visible on the steering wheel,

its always your word against theirs, and in the court eyes the cop always wins unless you got evidense like a tape or video.

they got the power to do anything, what sucks with the court system is that if you are found not guilty you still lose.

you still paid the bail
you still hired lawyer
you still did jail time

they should pay your money and time back for the trouble

Next time he pulled me over, I just want to pretend i'll be his little bitch, so he can talk all the trash he wants, and when he's done... I'll just flash him the Recorder and laugh my ass off and drove away....

This is the best advice so far. Do what he said to do and if it's night turn on the light in your car, some police will recognize the little extra effort that you put it and just be able to relax slightly more. However you have to think of it this way, these guys mostly are nice guys although we all run into a dick occasionally, with that being said they are risking their lives everyday and they don't know if their walking up on a car and could get shot at any moment. Don't even suggest to them how they should talk to you or what to do, just say yes sir and no sir and be quiet and let the situation resolve itself.

Just remember no matter how much it sucks or you're pissed off just relax and let it all resolve itself and then fucking blow up after you leave.

im no lawyer, but i think its illegal to tape people without them knowing. also the cops here have videocameras on their cars and on their shirt i think. they could check that tape if the cop lied saying he didnt say that stuff.

1.) Always take a ticket to court!!! You have a 50/50 chance of winning.

If you hire an attorney, you have a 60/40 chance of winning, but you have to pay his stupid ass and then most likely have to pay a fine and court costs.

2.) If you go to court, be polite to the COP ( he just got paid over time to go ) he will most likely be in a good mood.


3.) PLeading no contest ( US, not sure about Canada ) will usually get you off with a fine and no points. Usually, depending on your driving record.

4.) If you plead not guilty, make sure that you actually have something to say!! Take you copy of the citation with you and read from it!! The Cop will!


Speeding Citations: Radar, If you were clocked by radar, you can actually win. Most likely the cop was stationary somewhere when he clocked you, which means that he had to move his vehicle into traffic. He LOST SIGHT of his subject vehicle!!! If you were the only car on the road, you are FUCKED. If he had to pull into traffic you may want to mention to the judge the amount of traffic that was there and that the officer lost sight of the vehicle that he went after. You saw that vehicle pass you just before the officer pulled up behind you and stopped you. The other vehicle was the same color and model as yours, and you guess that the officer just made a mistake. If the officer was good at what he does, he may have written down a description of you on the ticket, and state that he observed the driver in a "black t-shirt" with print on it prior to the stop, and that was what you were wearing. Dont fret grasshopper!! Just point out that it is amazing that the officer must have great vision to see you that clearly as you vehicle passed him at " insert speed "!!!

You have now told the judge that you were not speeding and also inserted a little doubt in his mind, which is just enough to win..



If you got nailed with laser, Grab you ankles and kiss your ass good by!!!


Just remember that no matter what the ticket, you have a chance to win.. If the cop does not show up, just say, " Your honor, Due to the lack of prosecution, I respectfully reques that the citation be dismissed.


Judges like smart people. Not people that stand up make a gang sign and say " Yo u honor. I wasnt speedin. This cop be trippen. "

unless the person(s) know there being recorded its classed as entrapment and can not be used in the court of law so to make the recording legal you must state "this conversaion is being recorded in its entirity and could be used as evidence"

if they tell you to turn it off you cant keep recording and use it in court.....so your fucked cause i know no one says yeah sure record it i dont mind lol

Most cops don't mess with showing up for court stuff, so they throw it out..
