My judgment was, I need to get that out into the public square. I asked a friend of mine to share the content of the memo with a reporter. Didn't do it myself for a variety of reasons. I asked him to because I thought that might prompt the appointment of a special counsel. I asked a close friend to do it."

It's amazing how that is just glossed over.

The existence of the memos was first reported on May 16, 2017 and document conversations between Comey and President Donald Trump.

The memo's were not leaked until May 16th Sherlock.

The contents of the May 11th NYT article, surely matches the "memo" of Comey. Sources close to him said this happened at the dinner and this too. And Comey said there was only two people at the dinner. The tape tweet was released the next day on the 12th.

While its possible he had zero to do with the leak, I also think its better than 50% that he did get that leak out there.

it was pointed out in the press right after he said it that he lied. that doesn't mean Trump isn't a dickhead. It means Comey lied under oath as the former FBI Director about his actions as FBI Director. that is a big deal. Don't worry. Trump is still a dick.

From what I recall from the testimony i heard in my car, he said under oath that he gave his buddy permission to report it BEFORE Trumps tweet about him and the FBI on the 16th (so it didn't appear retaliatory/politically motivated) and it was proven that he did it AFTER Trumps tweet (a day later) on the 17th.

he admitted he did under oath.

The Dinner on the 11th was part of the memo, so it's fucking impossible for him to have leaked it "BEFORE" the dinner... Trump is playing you fools and it's easy to do because you "WANT" to be played the fool..

May 15: Comey wakes up realizing the relevance of a potential tape, according to his testimony.

May 16: The New York Times publishes a story about the existence of Comey’s memos. The New York Times said it had not seen the memos, but included information from one of them about an Oval Office meeting in February, as explained and quoted by a Comey associate.

Kasowitz seemed to be referring to the New York Times story published May 11 — the day before Trump’s "tapes" tweet — narrating a January dinner between Trump and Comey. However, that story is not attributed to the memos, but to "two people who have heard his account of the dinner."

The New York Times reporter who authored both the May 11 and May 16 articles, Michael S. Schmidt, told PolitiFact, "the record on this speaks for itself."

Peter Baker, a New York Times reporter who contributed to the May 11 story, also tweeted that Kasowitz’s claim was wrong.

He said he leaked the memo after the tweet about the tapes. Said it woke him up in the middle of the night, knowing he had to do that. The tweet about the tapes was on May 12th. Comey leaked however the memo stuff itself after the 12th.

BUT on the May 11th article in the NYT about dinner. Many "sources" connected to Comey said this and that happened. Which all appear to track what was in the memos. There was only two people at the dinner. And this article was before the tapes tweet.

Now was it someone else leaking after talking/seeing the memos? Sure, possible. Or was it Comey that was leaking before the tapes tweet? Also possible.

It's just amazing how we have two sides and they see things differently... Republicans gloss over the fact that our Attorney General, who is the country's top legal position, lied about meeting the Russians under oath and they gloss over it and then they try to find fault in Comey's testimony.

What ever. We are five months into Trump's administration and have five different investigations, and this is getting worse. This started with the Russians but it's quickly becoming obstruction of justice. No matter what happens at this point, we are having multiple investigations - these are serious, large, and far reaching. Who knows what they are going to discover.

Wait until they start putting people under oath.
