Ok guys, some advice

I was thinking starting paysites, how much is a decent amount of content to start a paysite, and whats costs usually.
or i can invest it into something else,
any ideas or suggestions welcome! :thumbsup

i wanna do something thats little more less stressing and enjoying and hopefully get a decent return

To build a decent paysite, $5k isn't enough.

long term placement, it's always good to have some money saved away

robbyd 04-19-2003 06:40 PM

ok what are the most costly factors in running paysite
like i said, i've never done paysites before, but its worth a shot

robbyd 04-19-2003 06:41 PM

The design part i can do on my own so that will save me a few bucks..

ztik 04-19-2003 06:41 PM

you can't really do much with 5k man, spend it on beer and hookers for a weekend.

robbyd 04-19-2003 06:43 PM

IMO, $5,000 *is* enough to start a paysite (albeit not a huge megasite), if you do it wisely...don't just go out and buy random crap of all sorts of different niches. Focus on one specific niche, do your research and buy the content wisely. I don't feel like going to into huge details, but yes, it is possible.
If you're not ready to jump headfirst into paysites, why don't you try a few premium AVS sites instead? I use Pro Adult Quantum and their recurring income is VERY VERY nice! I run a bunch of paysites and premium AVS sites in a variety of niches, if you want some advice, feel free to email me (webmaster at picsofme.com) and I'll try to help.

I can't see how you can build a paysite with $5k. There are so many expenses and things you need to take care, also since you said you worked your ass to make this money, this means you are not yet in a position to make the paysite work for you, meaning to send the traffic and the signups. Seeking for affiliates with a paysite of this small value doesn't sound easy as well. Of course you can try and prove the opposite. If you work hard and smart you will achive it :-)

I'd buy 1672 $2,99 3 day trial memberships.

30$/signup = $50,160

50,160
- 5,000

=

$ 45,160 profit.

You can't go wrong. Trust me.

I'm just thinking outloud because I'm in the same boat

With only $5k to spend on content (I'm being generous and leaving the hosting, software etc costs out of it) your membership price will have to be very low in order to get a surfer to stay around, and a low price means almost no affiliates will promote you so you'll have to do it yourself.

But why bother? If you promote another sponsor on a 50/50 revshare you'd probably make the same amount as you would trying to sell your own site at a lower cost, but you dont have to worry about content, server costs, membership customer support, etc. And as you buy new content to promote that site, it's yours to keep until you have enough to do your own site with down the road.
