I want to start making a portfolio....
i can do some banners, buttons, small sites, gallery designs... animated or not, i'll do it for free for the first 20 designs.
Email me what you want, incase you need a banner or button or gallery design add the link to the site it is for.

i'm taking it as a loss,i really didn't send him alot of content anyway,he might be backed up but still should let us know what's going on.

Should be clear that 'free designs' or 'design contests' dont' help out anyone, the designers or the clients looking for work

Just to clear up ONT think - I told him I would pay for it, if I was gonna use it on the TGP's. My design wasent "free" that is why it pisses me off

I disagree completely. It helps designers who aren't already booked full. It helps them get their work noticed. It gets them paid. Naturally other designers won't like the idea as it promotes competition and may show other designers who do great work at less cost. I think it helps clients too. They get to actually see the results and can choose the one's they like best. They aren't stuck paying for a design they didn't really like, and run up any additional costs for design changes. There's no additional wait involved either. They get their design right away.

I love the idea that someone can eventually profit from giving me something for free... and contests are even more obvious, since people get paid *and* get good exposure for their best work. Look at how people reacted to Voodoo's gallery in Brujah's contest. That stuff builds reputation.

you're damn right. It amazes me that I usually don't win any contest, just a runner-up, but most of my work comes from people that see what I post at contests. Even better, when I don't win a contest, I usually get the same prize because somebody asks me to modify the design for his/her site or product and get paid for it. Since contests are slightly better paid than my regular prizes (OK, they're not high, but even though), it's a win-win situation for me :thumbsup

and frankly, about this guy, when something seems too good to be true, it's usually some kind of scam or some kiddo that suddenly realizes he'd avoid to play Nintendo and get his sorry ass to work. Real world is too hard :glugglug

Not true... I am running a free giveaway every month and the prices are delivered on time, my webmaster clients can second that.

In the past month I have "won" designs etc from 6 different ppl and have only received one of them! One person is going to take awhile to complete it and that's fine but the others just poof disappeared without a trace.

Maybe it's time to pay for the work you need? :Graucho
