Why does ICQ sometimes have empty blankness where it should have communication?
 

Sometimes my ICQ has just white space after the time and name of whoever ICQed me. I thought maybe it was white text on a white background, but it can not be selected and no amount of changing colors appears to help. It seems to happen less on shorter sentences and it does not always happen with the same people or all the time with the same one.

Any idea what is going on?

I see that on mine too in ICQ history, or the font will be corrupt and I can't tell what it is. Doesn't happen with active messages though. Might be a corrupt font in the fonts folder. Not sure.

I get that a lot too, usually when I didn't add someone to my ICQ contact list. So I have to add EVERYONE just to get the url's or email addresses they're trying to send me.

ICQ seems to have hicups every now and then. The first time we noticed Lightspeed thought his staff was fucking with him. When I see it's happening I tell people to email me.

does trillian keep histories ? does it let you use icq in a subtle mode where it doesn't pop every message onto the desktop and/or your toolbar ? I like that icq stays in system tray until I want to answer a message.

thats why i dont use trillian, plus it loses some features, or makes them harder to use.... im sure 450+ ppl on my list doesnt help matters....

ICQ fucks up all the time. The Lite version worked well for me for about 6 months and then just quit working altogether. I have reinstalled ICQ so many times that most of the features only work half the time.
