Do I believe the United States owns reparations to slave descendants? No.

While slavery was a horrible injustice, it was a widely accepted practice around the world. The United States was only engaged in this practice for a short period of time, we had the civil war because of it, and the United States was one of the first countries to free it's slaves and outlaw the practice. You can also argue any Americans who are descendants of slaves have much higher quality of life, etc. You can argue any Americans who are descendants of slaves owe the United States government for freeing them and then giving them a higher quality of life.

However, if they insist, we can pay them reparations. We'll give each one of them $10k. However, they will need to renounce their American citizenship, leave the country, and never ever return.

It sounds like a ridiculous idea to pay reparations to people for what was done to their ancestors...but the least white people can do is try to have some perspective and understanding about the way they handle it. Some handle it well, some don't.

Not saying there's any excusing bad behavior, but if you're going to complain about black people getting over slavery you should at least TRY to imagine what it would feel like to have your home country be a place where your ancestors were subjugated by another group of people of one specific skin color. Wouldn't it be in the back of your mind from time to time as you dealt with them on a daily basis? Even if many of them were your friends?

You need to look back into history and give all of this some thought. Mankind was horrible, and even evil. I am not trying to justify any of this, but I am saying there was a time when we didn't care too much about human life no matter what color of skin. During the 1940s we destroyed entire towns and killed tens of thousands of people and we told ourselves it was "justified". During the same time period we rounded up citizens based on race and locked them up - hundreds of thousands of American citizens.

Again, I am not trying to justify this, but I am saying history is what it is.

But if any US citizen doesn't like it here, they can renounce their citizenship at any time and move.
