China successfully extracts new energy source
 

First time, China scientists have extracted natural gas from ice found deep from under the South China sea

China just extracted gas from 'flammable ice', and it could lead to a brand new energy source - ScienceAlert


the "flammable ice" holds huge amounts of untapped energy source, just 1 cubic metre of methane hydrate, the name given to the ice can release 164 cubic metres of natural gas!

That's really neat! It seems like a lot of work. I can understand drilling down for oil, but for methane? Is there a worldwide shortage or something? Isn't methane the gas that comes from shit and decomposing bodies?
