Mine was labeling 8,000,000 microsoft 3.5inch disks with "WORD" labels. (long time ago)

What's yours?

I used to Wipe Ass on old people.
It was part of an intern deal I had to do to get my administrators licence to be a CNA for 3 weeks before I could become an administrator. Another thing I had to do to get this licence was being the human resourcesdirector for 3 weeks. I hated that just as much. Firing and hiring dumb ass loosers and dealing with them drove me nuts.

Fuck health care and all those who work in it.

God I hated wipping ass.

Customer service rep in a call center and telemarketing when I was 18. Telemarketing was the worst job, I had to call people and pretend they won some contest and it was to sell family portraits, and I also sold timeshares once :helpme

For years, during school and after, I worked as a PC Support (helpdesk) Technicial at a medium-sized company.

The summer after I got my Masters degree, the best job I could find was working the evening shift at the same company's factory, assembling and packaging small parts. Very repetetive, not mentally stimulating at all, blech work environment.

That kindof sucked.

With a job like that could you be called an AssWipe? Oh man you know I had to do it, don't worry I've had shitty jobs too, Ha Ha there I go again. Seriously though I had so many horrible jobs around my early 20's. Probably the worst was making fucking donuts every morning at about 5 am. Fuck I hate get up early in the morning and the standing over a hot ass fryer for hour after hour and then all the cleanup bullshit I had to do.

Why such a bad job if you have a Masters degree? That discourages me from going back to college. The only reason I would ever want to go back to college is for a back up and to
be able to get a high paying job if I decide to do someone else.
What was you major? :helpme

If you decide to "DO someONE else?" hehe Just razzing you! It depends upon which field you are in if it's worth going back to school IMO. I have many friends with Masters that are making less than friends with BA's.

My worse job was being one of those ppl that stood in a window at a pizza place where everyone could see me....I was the girl flipping pizza dough in the air and doing stupid juggling tricks with it..... :321GFY

I've always been a bum...

But my friend used to work at barnes & nobles. He cleaned toilets and for some reason, people always shitted besides the bowl instead of in it ...lol

that was a fucked up job

Standing next to a conveyor belt in a pet food factory sealing bags as they came off it. I lasted a day and still surprise myself I made it the whole day. Worse bit about it was so much as stopping to scratch your ass meant you was almost burried under bags trundling off the belt.

Thankfully that's now many, many years in the past.

The thing was, you don't get a job in Philosophy with an MA (generally speaking), it's just a step on the way to PhD. So, I was looking for summer work in stuff unrelated to my degree, and there wasn't a lot of work in my area. It's not really much to do with my having a degree, the degree is just why the bad job stung so much. If that makes sense.

chuk 04-18-2003 04:41 AM

The last job I remember working at was a photo developing company. I was in receiving, where thousands of disposable cameras had to be busted open, sorted, put with the rest of the film, which all then had to be sorted...

But I had friends in every department, so when I would spot rolls from police departments and whatnot I would make note of the numbers and pass them to the guy in the next process, who would get the printers to print extra sets, and then send it to the cutting room where another friend of mine would cut the extra rolls and give them to me.

It was great site content for a while.

But doesn't your university pay you while you're going for your PhD, for at least 4 years or something?

the_lemur 04-18-2003 04:51 AM

I had an assembly line job recently. I couldn't fucking stand it, so after the second day I quit. The next day I checked my phone messages and the temp agency I was working for had actually fired me on my second day...

I called to find out why I was fired. The secretary told me the comments I made about how bad the job sucked and how stupid the redneck employees were, were not acceptable.

Well, that's fine, I can take that. So I told her I got a job shoveling horse shit, and that is was more rewarding than working at that god damned hellhole. Burn any good bridges lately? heh

Thank God I never worked on an assembly line or wiping asses... I have a tie for worst job I've had:

1)I interned in a HUGE explosives test chamber for a Navy test facility where they literally blew shit up inside this big armored room to study the physics of the explosives and detonators. That part was really cool. The NOT cool part was that I had to clean up all the charred shit lying around the explosive chamber and all the rat shit outside the chamber.

2)I cut lawns. Lots of them. You might think: work outside, excercise, etc sounds great, but man after having grass clippings stick all over your sweaty ass on 100 degree days all summer and having that jammed up in your nasal passages, it really starts to suck.

keyDet79 04-18-2003 06:22 AM

Data processing at the local computer company, at the logistics department. They had to test hardware, send each product to its manufacturers for repairs, send each new product back to the customers, but that wasn't the worst part.

I had to call all old customers (mostly hardware stores) to request all their information and put it in a database, since some of the data was over 2 years old, a lot of the companies didn't even exist anymore.

On my 2nd day a guy dropped some kind of bottle of hairspray, it exploded and the smell in the 'office' (more like a basement) we worked in was terrible, we couldn't get rid of it.

After 3 days I wanted to quit, went to my boss to ask for some other function, on which he told me "sure go get one, I don't want to see you ever again". But I was kind of relieved.

I used to work in a Pickle plant. I put dill pickles in little bags and poured the pickle juice in it. Then I sealed the bag.
I smelled like fucking pickle juice for days after I quit. I remember coming home and my socks would be green from the pickle juice.

Nasty fuckers.

I worked at Walmart as a stocker in high school, fuck I hated that job. The managers were such dicks. I would climb up to the top of some boxes about 3 stories high and go to sleep.

Also I worked at a Sonic with a psycho that liked to batter up his hands and put them in the deep fryer and then eat the crust off his hands.

Also, a landscaping job one summer...mowing yards in 115 heat was great, that job lasted about 4 days.

LMAO

Sorry ZORG but that was pretty clever. The worst job I ever had was straight out of culinary school. I went to work for this really busy bar that had a huge lunch crowd. My first day The chef and I did over 200 covers. He never showed up for a day of work after that. I learned that he was an alcoholic and was fired. So with all of 8 hours working restaurant experience I had to take over a busy bar and grill. I did all of this for a whopping $7/ hour. Oh yeah did I mention that the owner was an ex judge turned trial lawyer asshole whose favorite line was "Just get it done". What a dick that guy was. If it wasn't for him I might have stayed.

My worst job was working in a corn processing plant. My first duty was to take ears of corn off of one conveyer belt and put them on another while ignoring the bad ones. This was for twelve hour shifts at minimum wage. After a few days they gave me a promotion and put me in charge of moving frozen food trays from one end of an assembly line to another. I had two helpers had some very good weed but were too stoned to actually do any work. After a few days of that I just walked out and never came back. A few months later they sent me a letter telling me I was such a good worker they would like to hire me back. Thank the gods I never considered it.

well they didnt keep me because Im not "hyper" enough.

well the next week I got a paid internship at the local community FM station! Spent the summer opening the new CDs and listening to them.

fucking eh!

Shok 04-18-2003 10:06 AM

hahaha man I totally forgot about this one.

In high school I lucked into getting this job with 442 entertainment (I think that was the name), anyway they were a production company for all the big concerts that would come to town.

My very first job was to be the Vixen/ Bad Company concert.
I was stoked.
The concert was at this place called the Bronco Bowl.
So I get there all early in time to meet these big 18 wheelers with all the equiptment, lights, pa, etc. and all the other guys that would be working the show.

They all looked like cast members of that HBO show Oz.
Not very friendly either.

Well at this venue, the load in goes down this huge ramp...like 100 yards long at a 45 degree angle.
So all this heavy equiptment needs to go down with one person in front, basically a controlled slide and pushing, and one person in back sliding and pulling....it was totally fucked up.

So the load in starts and these guys are in a real hurry...pretty soon its my turn with this huge 300 lbs box....this really pissed off guy gets in front and he says..."Let's go asshole!"

so he starts pulling, and I, well, I just let go.

and he went all the way down with that case rolling over him a few times........oops it slipped.

Anyway, I ended up hiding out on one of the tour buses for awhile until, the coast was clear for me to get to my car and get the hell out of there lol
