can I trust games downloaded off of kazaa?
 

I'm seeing a shitload of games for free on kazaa..but unlike music, I would assume that you can add your own code to fuck up a virus victim.

Am I correct in this assumption to not download games off of kazaa?

Yes but, if you have norton or some sort of anti virus your safe..

duee first get spy bot kazza loads a shit load of spy ware on your puter, next get avg antivirus and before you OPEN ANYTHING scan it all you will find 80% of the shit is infected with some sorta of crap

There is nothing stopping an .exe from modifying the registry or the file system.

Never run an .exe that you don't trust 100%

I woudl'nt man.. Movies and Games are huge virus and trojan traps on Kazaa. Even with Virus protection I learned the hard way.

The thing is most AntiVirus software only looks for known viruses, trojans etc..

There is nothing stopping an .exe from moving/editing/deleting your file system or registry.

Then, when you boot up....

I've been using Kazaa for awhile now. Haven't been hit yet.. My Norton has blocked it all.. Then again I've nenver downloaded a exe file yet..

I downloaded Grand Theft Auto III from Kazaa just to test it out.

It worked fine and had no malicious code in it. I don't think I will do it again though, as it is just not worth the risk for a $50 game.

i download games from kazaa all the time. Norton never have failed until now.

i know i'm probably gonna get flammed for saying this but your better off downloading games from aol(if you dont use irc). the warez kids are pretty good at what they do.

Only get warez from reliable warez groups.

The real problem is not viruses, trojans or spyware its the bloody keyloggers that are installed with just about every piece of warez floating around on there.

Good luck finding that shit. Norton or or any other anti-virus won't detect it and neither will any anti-spyware flavour of the month software.

Kazaa is best for web development software, movies, TV shows and MP3's. Kinda weak on games.. lots of fake files and so on.

Is there a way to prevent keyloggers ? Norton has done well for weeding out the viruses & trojans on kazza like a few people here have already said. All of the viruses and trojans I've found on kazza have been from downloads of video or software, can you still get viruses and trojans from downloading mp3's ?

both were infected (norton caught it) and i haven't downloaded EXEs again (except for the original Wolfenstein)
