(DVD ripping) Anyone knows a capture card that...
...anyone knows a capture card that can encode into mpeg-1 directly from the the dvd player?
Currently I capture the DVD ...then I encode it into mpeg which takes a long time...but is it possible to skip the first step and encode directly into mpeg? is there a capture card which can do such a thing? |
Why not just rip to DiVX?
Use DVDx or FlaskMPEG to rip the DVD to DiVX format. If you really want to a MPEG, you can use EO Video or TMPGEnc to convert the DiVX to an MPEG. |
yeah Im looking for something that would capture/encore directly into mpeg...

We use this for our dvd's
It will do exactly what you want: http://www.canopus.com/US/products/M...pm_mvr1000.asp |
ok I'm going to look at these url's...
anyone else? |
Do you know how that Canopus card compares in term of quality with with a program like tmpgenc? Also, can you specify the bitrates pretty much the same way you can in tmpgenc?

I wouldn't even compare the two. I guess that?s why one is free, and the other costs 1k+... I use DV-Storm with the front break-out board. I can capture to Mpeg, using any GOP setting I wish, movie size, frame rate, bit rate, PAL, NTSC, or I can capture in a variety of other formats. |
