(DVD ripping) Anyone knows a capture card that...

...anyone knows a capture card that can encode into mpeg-1 directly from the the dvd player?

Currently I capture the DVD ...then I encode it into mpeg which takes a long time...but is it possible to skip the first step and encode directly into mpeg? is there a capture card which can do such a thing?

Why not just rip to DiVX?

Use DVDx or FlaskMPEG to rip the DVD to DiVX format. If you really want to a MPEG, you can use EO Video or TMPGEnc to convert the DiVX to an MPEG.

yeah Im looking for something that would capture/encore directly into mpeg...

Do you know how that Canopus card compares in term of quality with with a program like tmpgenc? Also, can you specify the bitrates pretty much the same way you can in tmpgenc?

The latest Broadway Pro card does an excellent job of capturing mpeg or avi in real time. Pricey..but good!

I just bought this card and actually there is a problem with it...I thought I could capture at higher resolution than 320x240 with it but it is not possible in mpeg-1 mode....

now I got a return it and I got a find something else so anyone knows what can do the following:

-Encode in MPEG-1 + in real time + at higher resolutions than 320x240

thanks

-Encode in MPEG-1 + in real time + at higher resolutions than 320x240 ..let's say 640x480

Canopus is light years better.
I wouldn't even compare the two. I guess that?s why one is free, and the other costs 1k+...
I use DV-Storm with the front break-out board. I can capture to Mpeg, using any GOP setting I wish, movie size, frame rate, bit rate, PAL, NTSC, or I can capture in a variety of other formats.

does the dv-storm capture in real time, in MPEG-1, in any movie size?
