I'm in Paris.
Jeez, the city is epic sick, love and hate it! I'm staying at Boulevard Rochechouart. Any EURO 5 vine is good.
|
Try not to get blown up.

Watch out for large markets
|
Have fun.

Yes you can get a nice bottle of red or white wine for 5 euros at any stores. Avoid overrated "Bordeaux" and try some red Côte du rhones (really strong and tasty wines). Go to Monoprix and get some white Vin de pays d'Oc, Picpoul de Pinet or Muscadet or Saint-Pourçain (no more than 4 euros a bottle). If you like Champagne, dont overpay a bottle and try some nice bottles of "Crémant" white or Rosé. Crémant is not sparkling wine but the exact same method used to make Champagne, just from a different region. Instead of paying 15? for a mediocre Champagne, you can get a real good Crémant for less than 10?. Enjoy :) |
Have a good one, Sid :frenchman ...

I liked Les Invalides in Paris where Napoleon's tomb is. There is a Military Museum there with a lot of armor from the Renaissance Period. It's also in a good area near the Seine near the D'orsay Museum and the Concord Palace.

I had to send a couple of Russian tourists back in line at CDG when they were trying to squeeze in front of me. I was speaking English, they were quiet unhappy but took my advice without hesitation. For a bottle, I loved this one: http://i67.tinypic.com/2hghg75.jpg |

Hey I love the pics you posted! It's cool getting a look at the nooks & crannies of a city you normally wouldn't see and/or the overglossed "trying to impress people" pics. Well done! :thumbsup |

Many pro-Putin asshats hate me for my being Ukrainian and still managing to travel the world on a budget. I'm not an average Ukrainian though, and I never said so, but they keep hating. Of course, I have tons of cliche pics taken but honestly speaking Paris is so popular it doesn't matter where I stayed at all, I don't give a damn. It's incomparable to any other European city. Though, if I was given a choice I'd go to live in Barcelona not Paris. But it's only after a couple of visits to Spain and one trip to Paris ( I was in Lyon before ). Heck knows, the system may be working better in France than Spain. |
How long are you staying?

This is where I stayed:
https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/15679230 The area isn't that nice, and generally speaking, Paris is VERY different not only from district to district but also from block to block. Say, you go down South 2 blocks and you enter another world. I lived in USA and travelled to many countries, I come from ex USSR so I can talk to different people easily, I honestly believe if you are not acting as an asshole you would do well almost anywhere. The apartment has it's Parisian charm - basically speaking it's old and not very well kept according to even my standards, but it's fairly cheap. Also, the cancellation policy is easy and they take no deposit as many do. http://i65.tinypic.com/dcftc0.jpg http://i67.tinypic.com/2ykdze0.jpg http://i66.tinypic.com/1zv3795.jpg http://i65.tinypic.com/345is88.jpg It's a 7th floor, the elevator goes up to the 6th, then you take stairs. Very small elevator, 225kg max, usually 2 people only. |
