Most of J. Geils Band best stuff was done before 1980. They did pop in the 80's, they did blues in the 70's.

Some classic J. Geils:

That news yesterday broke my heart. Peter Wolf got the credit but J Geils rocked the guitar. I saw them at Boston Garden four times from 1978-1981. They did the blues justice. MTV pushed them nationally in the early 80's and they had quite a following. Didn't realize he lived up in Groton. He died of natural causes after they did a wellness check on him. So sad he died alone. Didn't realize he was 71. When I saw them he looked like he was in his late twenties. RIP

Right. He was an excellent guitar player. But in 82-83, WBCN could be counted on to rotate 2-3 J. Geils songs an hour. For awhile I could not listen to the band. So over-saturated.
J must have made some really decent money through BMI and ASCAP.

Hands down you are right. Thats a great tune performed by an amazingly tight band.

Whoa, WBCN brings back memories. J Geils, Boston, The Cars. Repeated songs daily in between chatter. Later it was, oh hell, can't think of their name. Met in college up in Boston. Other stations pushed NKOTB so much I couldn't stand them. Now I want to hear them as older guys but without synths, over dubs and backup singers drowning them out.
