the kodak has 3x optical and 3.3x digital. still very high quality though.

hmm... appears that you are correct

sony has:
Carl Zeiss Vario Sonnar 5X Optical zoom lens, 2X Precision Digital zoom, 10X Total Zoom

but they also sell a 1.7x telephoto adapter, so I guess in theory you could get 17x zoom total, for only $299 more

or it would be 8.5x optical, and 17x with the precision digital when using the telephoto adapter

No, I don't own it but I do plan to buy one for my brother later this year. Have you searched for reviews on any of the photogrtaphy sites?

At 13.89 mega pixels it's only slightly better than a point and shoot digi.

Seriously, you want zoom? Walk forward 10 feet.

You want a real camera then get a digiSLR.

The 750 looks nice.
