Who is a Digital Camera expert??
I am in the market for a Digital Camera and am looking for suggestions. I want something that is very small, but takes good pictures, lots of memory, and all the bells and whistles.
This is NOT for shooting content or anything, just for using for family outings and such. Price is not the major concern, but I am always looking for a good value. Anyone want to make a suggestion? Thanks! --T |
Canon s400- Pocket size 4 megapixel

I am also looking. I had a really small Kyocera and the battery lasted 15 min.. The thing finally stopped working all together so Im looking for something cigarette pack and smaller that takes good pics and the battery lasts

check out www.dpreview.com
the Canon Elph line is pretty sweet with good image quality for it's size. S230 or S400 would be work well for you. I've owned the older S100 and S200. But also check out the new Pentax Optio S. It fits inside an Altoid tin, 3.2mp sensor and a 3x optical zoom. |
I would go with either the Nikon 5700 or the Canon G3.

yah like the others said
canon elph series are great, they use compact flash so you can get a 1 gig micro drive if you want massive memoy and canon's batteries last great. Not to mention it looks sweet, is heavy duty, and small as hell. |

Those aren't "very small" are they? |
BV...the microdrive is a CF type 2....so it won't work with the Canon Elphs
but you can get a pricey 1gb CF type 1... |
I like the Casio EX-Z3

I actually used Olympus C-line cameras to shoot my content until my recent purchase of a Nikon D100 (which would be HUGE overkill for what you want to do). I currently have a C-3040 and a C-4040 collecting dust since I bought the Nikon. You can read about them here: Review of the C-3040 http://www.steves-digicams.com/2001_reviews/c3040.html and the C-4040 http://www.steves-digicams.com/2001_reviews/c4040.html As for battery life, I've shot 300-photo content sessions without having to replace the four NiMH batteries. The key is NOT to use the LCD on the back for framing shots. I used the viewfinder and the camera displayed the shot on the LCD for a few seconds afterward so that I could quickly see how it looked. The LCD is pretty much useless outdoors anyway (this is true of just about any digital camera with an LCD on its body, not just these cameras). Brand new, the C-3040 is currently selling for $399 new(http://www.digitalliquidators.com/de...0&l=everyprice). Mine is in very good condition (I take good care of my cameras) and I'd part with it for $249. A new C-4040 is currently selling for $544 new (http://www.digitalliquidators.com/detail.asp?id=olc4040), but I'd part with it for $325. I would throw in two 64Mb memory cards as well. This is enough memory to take approximately 300 1600x photos, which are high-res enough to print as 8x10"s. My ICQ is in my sig. |
All them coolpix cameras do kick ass photos... real easy and cheap too

The Nikon 5700 is on sale right now at $999. Also the Sony F717 at $799. Both outstanding.

Olympus is my favorite!:thumbsup
