what's the best way to serve video to the newbie surfer?
I'm about to start serving exclusive videos in my members soon and I don't like to break them up into minute long clips. I just think that fucks up the whole idea of having videol.
I want to serve them in blocks of 10-15 minutes at a time. That way the dsl user can get it immediately and the 56k user can get it overnight. Is .mpeg the best way to deliver video in this way? Or would streaming it be better? I'm also open to REal Player. I'm not concerned with crystal clear quality. I just want decent viewable quality. For you that serve video, how do your customers prefer to get it? |
I like mpeg1.
4 x 25 minutes segment of about 200 megs each. The surfer can view it while downloading, or save it or even join it and burn it as a vcd. my :2 cents: |
You've seen my stuff... most users prefer mpg form

MPEG 1
any other answer is not the truth |

Mpeg-1 is the best. DONT use REal Player - the format is great, but the player SUX!! and will fux up most computers. If you want a alternative, you might want to try Xdiv (its a free OpenSource Mpeg-4) It will reduse your bandwith bill a lot If you need one to do the job, just say so. I just finished my backlog, so Im ready for new customers - my ICQ is in the signature :winkwink: |
