Friendships among webmasters
I just thought - can webmasters, who probably have never ever seen each other, but have known each other from daily or weekly conversations on boards or ICQ, establish a good friendship over time? It seems to me personally like I know some people in my ICQ list better than my own girlfriend ... :(
I mean, it can't really be a friendship in the traditional sense... you really don't *know* the person... I'm puzzled. Same thing with this artificial hate against certain 'characters' or 'nicknames' that you establish. Isn't it silly? What tells you that the board appearance isn't just a markup, but in real life the person might end up being actually quite nice. lol Fuck, I hafta go to Vegas next January. :glugglug |
...just to make sure I filter out the *real* assholes. :1orglaugh

you wanna talk about it chap?
need to call a nigga? let me drink some more, ill call you. :glugglug |

Nah, it's all good. Just sitting and thinking, that's all. You won't succeed calling me though, my phone's busted. |
ill call you whether you want me to or not.
you cant keep me from you. dont turn away from me. Dont look at me and look away, it hurts me. It hurts like the last time. :glugglug |
no kidding, I've been anti-social since 1997
with the exception of a few...serious. :smokin |

How many of us have more offline friends then online friends? Me, no.

Yeah it's always a good feeling knowing you can go to Vegas without getting your ass kicked by some board whore. Then again the board whore probably isn't fit enough kick your ass in the first place, so your good.

crap the bs topics and get back to work you character

who says you have to meet someone to become friends with them? friendships are bonds that have nothing to do with meeting someone face to face
its all about a connection on a level that goes beyond the "physical" relationship :2 cents: |
who wants a hug? :)
|
some of by best friendships - not to mention my marriage - came from people I knew for ages online first. I was friends with them and loved them before I met them in the flesh. You either connect or you don't regardless of what realm you meet each other in.

I have no friends :(

It's okay. Just make $$, you can always buy friends. At least that's what I see everyone else doing... |

I have a few webmaster friends who I have known for ages, and feel relatively close to. Not many, though.

I have aquantainces. I have seen many webmasters make "good" friends in this business who are also in it. However they always seem to fall apart after a while. I made friends with another webmaster in 1996. We had a huge fallout over the fact that I was wanting to use recurring on my site and he (to this day does not have it) thought it was a rip-off. We no longer talk. How sad is that? |

I like my webmaster friends better than my real-life friends.

I consider Equinox a friend, we've been chatting online for a couple of years now.
Meeting Lane in Vegas reeeeeallllly helped me understand why he never responds to anything, (he's got to be the shyest guy I've ever met. But he's got the looks to get any girl he wants, but he doesn't. If I looked like him, I'd be fuckin' a different chick every night.) TDF.. well who the hell isn't TDF friends with. FletchXXX, I offered him a bong and he refused, so that's pretty cool. I would say that's a friend. A greedy ass would have accepted. (It was a fucking nice bong too.) Keev is a bastard, but still a goof friend. Tanker turned me out, he's cool. SixNine, pointed me in the right direction and helped me get my start. I'm stilll not sure if I should thank him or hate him for that. LOL Boneprone takes my membership fee every year then tells me not to bother him for another year, so he's cool. Pete The Fly, Exxxotica, Alan, Henry, Mike D, BVF, KatDaddy, FattDaddy, SetTheWorldOnFire, Rodent, Titmowse.... this list can go on for days.... I have a lot of online friends, more than I do offline. But only because I spend most of my waking hours online. If I were a social worker, I'd know more offline people. I am RedShoe, and I am an anti-social BY CHOICE. I hate people physically. But online they can be whoever I want them to be. In my mind's eye, Equinox is not as big of a nerd as he is in real life. |
