The official "women are not funny" thread
I do not mean to say they are not capable of being a source of amusement if you subject their sillynes and stupidity to ridicule...No, they are very funny then...What I mean is they have no sense of humor and they suck at comedy...Prove me wrong and post your favorite female stand-up comedy clip or link...Amy Schumer clips will not be considered but not because she is fat and stupid...And when I say not because she is fat and stupid I totally mean because she is fat and stupid...But I would like somebody to prove me wrong...But they can't...

A few on 'the roast of', not sure of their names tbh (can't remember is actually more like it), I've never actually bothered to delve into it but I assume the comics write their own material for those (though wouldn't be surprised to find out that isn't the case). But as for stand-up... yeah, I think their (comediennes in general) routines just have more of a specific range of topics that doesn't cross to both genders as well as (again, just in general before I get shot down) the broader material male comics use, and those topics seeming to appeal to both genders. Kind of like certain comedians whose stand up routines may not be such a hit from country to country. Doesn't mean they aren't funny per se, just that the crossover isn't so good sometimes. There's usually 10 minutes in any top level comedian's hour-or-so routine that I may have a wry smile rather than a proper laugh at, even louis ck, bill burr, who are my 'favourites' most days - with female comics it's usually the other way around... just for me & my tastes. Apologies for the seriousness of this reply lol off-topic but still related a little bit... most genius spot in a stand-up I've seen was eddie murphy, I forget whether it was Raw or Delirious, when he does the part about every guy cheats/has cheated on a woman. Every guy in the audience knew it was true, every woman laughed because he went on to describe the drive home 'but you don't do that right?', and the 'not my man! Yes, your man!!!'- hard to explain but if you've seen it you know what I mean. Very, very clever :1orglaugh |
I couldn't ever imagine paying to go and see a woman stand-up "comedian".
There's one here in the UK who seems pretty famous, Sarah something, and i caught the first 10mins of one of her shows on tv one night. It was horrific and painfully awkward to watch. You'd have thought it was her first ever gig. Shit jokes about pretty much nothing. Then the camera pans round the crowd and you see guys sitting with their wifes etc having a small chuckle. I would never let my wife drag me to one of those things. I don't care who it is. Yet i love stand-up comedy. Been to see Jimmy Carr, Lee Evans etc many times before. Woman should just avoid it. Sorry.... |

Lisa Lampanelli (sp?) had some good routines. Not sure what she's doing lately. I use one of her lines to this day. "<People X> are my 2nd favorite type of people....right behind everybody else". Example:
Lawyers are my 2nd favorite type of people, right behind everybody else She used it with Filipinos. Works best when you use it on someone who is one of the people, they think you're going to flatter them, and then you kick them right in the cherries. |

ok I checked out so far:
lisa lampanelli- the best so far, she is a level above the other female comedians but her humor is kind of one sided racist-insult stuff, that is amusing at first but gets old....I just saw one show, but lets say if she was not allowed to mention skin color there would be 0 jokes in the whole show...I would still give her 7/10 whitney cummings- looks purdy but not funny at all...2/10 had to turn off after 5 min...I really wanted to give her a chance but it was below my low expectations...would bang tho... joan rivers- I gave her 20min but IMO she is 5/10...shame...was expecting more from her... amy schumer- watched her "live at the appolo" yesterday on HBO for like 30min was too lazy to change channels...it is literally like eric cartman said "talk about how fat and ugly you are and mention your vagina a lot" :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh this is the only thing funny about schumer, the eric cartman quote...would give her 2/10 sarah silverman- painful to watch...1/10...maybe I just saw a shit show...but real physical pain... my quest to find female humor is still afoot...I will check more comedians from the posts above but so far only lampanelli is amusing the rest are just sad to watch... |
