European lawmaker says women are too 'small, weak and unintelligent' for equal pay
 

A Polish member of the European Parliament may be punished after he said that women should earn less than men because they are weaker, smaller and "less intelligent."

Janusz Korwin-Mikke, a radical right-winger who leads a marginal party, could face sanctions such as a reprimand, a fine or a temporary suspension.

An investigation has been opened under rules specifying that members must show mutual respect and refrain from "defamatory, racist or xenophobic language or behavior."

He said: "Of course women must earn less than men because they are weaker, they are smaller, they are less intelligent. They must earn less, that's all."

Spanish MEP Iratxe Garcia Perez angrily replied: "Look, according to your theory, I should not have the right to be here, as a member of this parliament."

Interesting... I was thought that women are more hardy than men in some extreme conditions like heat, vibration and also they can work like robots on conveyor where average males lose concentration very fast.

Mentioned guy is rather XIX century capitalist, in that way like capitalism was built in USA that time. some call it social darwinism..he is far from being nationalist...while his views are controversial on many issues and I disagree with many of them, I totally agree with some of his socio- economic views.

"intelligence" is a bad way of phrasing it, but it's no secret that woman have different traits/skills/etc... so obviously the pay will be different...

this story comes up often in textbooks on the development of skill and expertise. kind of a bizarre way to test a theory on learning... but he was committed for sure.

I would say women are even more smarter than men in the sense that men are distracted with more ease while women are more focused by nature. However, women are more emotional, so they fuck up things because of stupid thoughts they have.

It is pretty hilarious that you are trying to argue that women are some how ill equipped for focus yet you can't even form a logical point for it at even the most basic level.

The only reason you have ever played the game is because you have seen men excel in it, get recognized for it, be respected for it. If only women played and did well you would probably not play it much or at all because you would perceive it as something that only women play. If that was true would that mean you are unable? Chess wasn't even popular in the US until Bobby Fischer came around and became an international figure.

I'll give another example. There are no Serbian baseball players in the MLB. It is a very western game but is not popular at all where you come from. Now does this mean you are unable to play at a competitive level? Even if you started young and grew up playing it? Now break it down as to why it is not popular in Serbia. Of course you will just dismiss it and say it's a stupid game played by out of shape people, but the real reason is that nobody from Serbia plays it. If even ONE player who comes out of nowhere and starts hitting homeruns and making a name for himself and happens to be Serbian that begins to change. This is exactly what happened in Japan, Korea, Mexico, Cuba, Dominican Republic..even Holland has a team competing in the World Baseball Classic right now and they are really good, although most of them are from Curacao specifically.

My point is Women being involved and accepted into academics is a VERY new thing in human history. It is so new that we haven't even overcome our ingrained beliefs that they are not capable, even on a subliminal level sometimes. This isn't only by men, women often do it themselves by conceding to the same beliefs. So until there is some prominent women who start kicking some ass in the game that probably wont change for a while.

The answer is quite simple. Women don't play chess because there are no known women who play chess. Would you ever play it if only women were successful at it? I bet you wouldn't.
