I think Gore would have handled 9/11 fine, for a starters being "presidential" in a time of crisis is like shooting fish in a barrel (hell *OUR* prime ministers support went up 10-15% because of what happened in *YOUR* country.. at times of national crisis the people get behind their leaders), Clintons anti-terrorism proposals wouldn't have been scrapped and redrawn in partisan scent marking and would have already been implemented by 9/11 perhaps preventing it, and crushing Al-Queada in Afghanistan with the world's support isn't too much of a feat.

Iraq though.. yeah, that would have been handled differently.. Can't say better or worse though.

I do agree that any president would have done Afghanistan. I doubt however that Gore would have taken as a hard a line as Bush with the "You're either with us or against us." stuff. We'll never know of course but on Iraq I think he would have continued Clinton's all talk no action policy.

Clinton's proposed "rollback Al-Quaeda" anti-terrorism policies were scrapped by Bush in the usual partisan bureaucratic shit when he was elected. If they had have been implemented straight away 9/11 could have been averted.. It was sheer luck/imcompetence they got away with it in the first place, let alone if the spotlight was really on them.

Actually, if I'm remembering correctly (and speaking as a fan of Clinton - I know, please don't throw rotten tomatoes...), some of the "anti-terrorism" measures proposed under the Clinton administration were pretty damned draconian...though they're nothing compared to what Ash-hahahahaha and Company have come up with.
