anyone have a smc membership?
has anyone tried smc4me.com?
I just called and ordered the package. success? failure? advice? anyone here tried it? |
as in the informercial?
|
Well, if it's the infomercial one... they had a building in Canoga Park. I passed by there the other day, and they had moved out. I dunno if they found another place or scaled down.
But if it's the infomercial one, why use them? Why not set up your own distribution/drop ship company? Why take a % when you can take it all? Either way, I wish you well. |
Tom Bosley is gonna make you rich.
|
yeah
a friend of mine uses his friends membership to sell items on ebay. but I want to try to offer my shit to businesses and people who run flea market stands, etc. I bet that shit would sell like hotcakes around christmas time. I decided to give it a go, just wanna know if anyone else has tried it. have you quiet? |

Well I dont know about SMC much but id rather just worry about sales. |
SMC allows me to drop-ship the items directly to anyone buying, in my name so they don't even know who the supplier is.
I pay below wholesale price I don't have the items myself nor know anyplace that can sell me them any cheaper, so I tried SMC I don't make a %, I make whatever I sell it for minus my costs. For instance, if something is $16.99 retail, I may only pay $4.99, can sell it for $10.99, and make a profit. Would work wonders if I could get a couple stores to buy in bulk from my catalog. They provide the catalogs, the order forms, a personal coach for 60 days, a free 4 page catalog on the internet, all sorts of shit. I think I could make it happen but I'm just interested in hearing from anyone else who has gave it a go. |

I used to know a dude that sold that stuff and did okay. He did the flea market gig but the SMC stuff was only part of his inventory.
You will probably discover that most flea market types are already hooked up for merchandise. 80% of those guys don't have a pot to piss in anyway. Same thing with small retailers. It is very unlikely that big retailers will even give you the time of day. I'd suggest that you find one type of product and specialize in that instead of selling all kinds of different stuff. If they have knives for example, be a knife guy (or whatever). Once you get the hang of selling stuff, find your own suppliers and you can get that kind of stuff dirt cheap, cheaper than SMC. That takes some digging but I guarantee you that it can be done. |
Good luck on companys buying from your catalog. I wish you well but from experience(not SMC) all your supplier needs to do(which your pretending to be) is fuck up a shipment and your done. I been the flea market route with this shit. We have the largest well known flea market in the Midwest and I can say its WAY harder than you can imagine. Good luck but dont bet on any large company supporting you. In theory it is once again a "no-brainer" right?? I thought so to. Selling a plan to make money is the way to go. Make fun of dickhead Don Lapre and Carlton Sheets but those brainiacs run circles around ALL OF US Good Luck and I wish you success:thumbsup

I'd imagine if I bought a stand at a popular mall around christmas time I could make some OK cash selling this stuff.

Thanks! |
Ok unless your mall is very small and sells retail for cheap. Are you forgetting the raping you will get from management as far as lease price goes in CHRISTMAS TIME????

A little info about malls. I dont know were you live but in chicago area we have a mall that ranks #3 in the country as far as retail sales. My dad is a mechanical engineer there for 25 years and I worked there and dated the VP's daughter. Not that thats an issue but I know firsthand the costs. A small 4 wheeled cart just in the common area at x-mas goes for 5k a month minimum. Now mind you if your potential mall exhibits overwhelming amount of kids you are in trouble from the beginning. WE all know kids dont buy shit except for a pretzel and run around and terrorize. Just food for thought. Pick the mall that has an overwhelming amount of 6:00am "walkers" and this will be your key. Adults spend money kids dont. My experiences from being close to the top

Jim, thanks, I just changed my mind on the mall I would choose
We've got "Belden Village", a bigger mall full of kids. Lots of people, but as you said, most are kids. We've also got a smaller mall with much less people, but much more adults, right down the street from my place. A lot of people in that mall go in the mornings or in the evening hours just to powerwalk the mall for excersize... after walking past my booth a couple times they'd be good candidates for a sale. |
Your on the right track. My retail info package starts at 19.95 please make ck payable to me LOL Good Luck Bud:Graucho
|
hehe! thanks again!!
Anyone else? has anyone tried the smc package specifically? Shit, if those little kids can make money going door to door with candy... |
OK then, has anyone tried selling similar items on ebay? maybe from different companies other than smc?
|
Yes you would be shocked at what I have sold on ebay, your best bet is to become a full time garage sale scavenger. Old junk is some weirdos goldmine, especially on ebay.
|
are you serious?
|
dude, I just paid $250 for a book. And we have a whole garage full of junk that we are slowly going thru and categorizing for ebay. I think anything can be sold there.
