How long do recurring last?

I just want to know what is the average time a typical porn buyer would keep their membership to a pornsite?

I understand the snowball effect.. that and bukakke, but is this reallly the true way of wealth building?

Retention rates?

Juicy D. Links 04-11-2003 11:52 PM

well like i dont possibly understand someone staying on a site for 6 months or a year.. i expect at most 1-2 months.. but then again i dont BUY porn.

Question is do ppl (on avg) stay with a pornsite for 6+ months?

Here is the formula:

Take the angle of the dangle , divide that by the push in the bush and that your average.

actually, the angle of the dangle is perpendicular to the heat of the meat :winkwink:

as far as retention, an average of 17418240 seconds... :glugglug

only works if you beat the meat over some wet heat.

hm. you'd think that generally sexually-derived heat would be moist, of some sort...

You don'y buy porn, so what skills are you going to bring to the industry?

I'm a vegetarian and thinking of opening a butchers shop, do you think this is a good idea?

dmv69 04-12-2003 07:49 AM

i dont buy porn does not mean i dont look at porn.. i look at too much porn.

Snake Doctor 04-12-2003 10:10 AM

Industry average is 35% from trial to monthly, and 50% after that.
So if you get a trial join there's a 35% chance that member will rebill to a monthly membership.
If they rebill to a monthly membership there's a 50% chance they'll stay for another month.

Around 2% of people will forget they have the membership and never cancel it. (god love them) Those are your folks that stay for 6+ months.

So when I do the math on those numbers (over a 6 month period) it works out to 0.7 monthly rebills per trial signup. Or 2 rebills per trial that converted to a monthly membership, however you want to look at it.

If you don't offer trials your retention numbers will look alot different, but 99% of the time you'll make more money with trials.

Those percentages seem awefully low lenny:Graucho

We're talking averages, not best case scenarios. I didn't want to blow sunshine up his ass and tell him how great program XYZ converts.

Some sites do better than that, some sites do worse.

necoeds 04-12-2003 10:28 AM

Tru Dat.... ;-)

I for one know for a fact that your program does ALOT better than that........:Graucho

BUT, anyways, to the newbie: On-line porn is a dead biz.... No money left in it..... Just stick to your pay-per su programs.... and SHHHHH:Graucho

Private gay program here does average 8 months retention. $29.99 per month. you do the math.

pornguy 04-12-2003 10:35 AM

I have a couple of those long timers going. I have one guy for 3 years now and 2 others for 2 years!!! I love those guys!!!

yes you got it

brutus 04-12-2003 11:45 AM

Average Joe stays 1-2 months, usually 1. But with really cool niche content which is not widely available, you will have people staying 6+++ months... Good bondage / BDSM site does this easilly. Not with every member, but ... look at what you have? Will you wait to see the next update? Do you update every fucking day? Yes, there are people who are willing to pay for good stuff. Same with some teen niches, asians etc. and - I don't understand why - but also vit video sites. Just fucking clips updated every day and they stay. ??? Crazy.

I think it really depends on how good the members area.

You should join any site that youre seriously thinking about promoting to see how good it is. I've joined some sites and cancelled immediately because they were so shitty and short on content and if I won't stick around for the rebill neither will the memberships I send.

That just means they died and their heirs haven't been bothered to go through their credit card statements.

For the record, that's not my program.....I'm just a reseller who snapped up a nice domain :winkwink: (notice the hyphen)

Yes gay and bdsm/bondage sites do retain longer. 1 member to a site in those niches is worth more money than 1 member to a teen site, but remember, the teen site will still make more money (all things being equal) because it will have many many many more members, because it appeals to a broader audience.

Retention is an important number, but its not the ONLY number to look at when deciding where to send your traffic.
