Linkin Park - Meteora, WTF?!

So I just picked up their new album, and I have a few thoughts.

Now, I think linkin park is a good band with some really decent tunes. But, listening to this album, all I hear is lyrics about pain, suffering, angst etc. This from people who are old enough to have kids of their own? I mean I know their target audience is teens, but seriously, what do these guys know about being teenagers? I'm really starting to detect a bit of fakeness from these guys.

Any linkin park fans? Let's hear your thoughts.

I think the new albums is much deeper than the older one. More layered, if you know what I mean. I like it. Good stuff.

I was friends with one of the singers in high school, Chester. I dont think that he was the most popular guy in grade school, but in HS, he began with a band and stuck with it. To be honest with you, i did not see much of a difference between his band and any of the other HS bands. Then he got into a different band, grey daze, and eventually, linkin park

last time i saw him was in early '99, he was a courier in downtown phoenix.

it might be their style, and now their image...typecast..who knows

I loved the 48 layers of production and 5/8 turntable break down on "anarchy in the uk"

Perhaps someone needs to define "punk" for you.

top40 fratboys with liprings are not punk no matter how you slice it. Its anti-punk.

Sarah_Jayne 04-11-2003 12:49 AM

when they released an entire album of remixes they became lame

I hate nu-metal lyrics. It's all whiney bitch shit, based on absolutely nothing.

It annoys me almost as much as those pople I knew in high school who dressed stupid and constantly claimed that everyone thought they were a "freak", but in reality it would be scientifically impossible for anyone to really give less of a shit what they look like.

OzKaNoz 04-11-2003 02:18 AM

Never heard of them.

Just go get you some Jimi Hendrix.
:winkwink:

I haven't even given the CD a chance, and I doubt I will. From what I hear, it's production is tighter, but the lyrics are way too angst driven.

How can a band of best friends (or so they say in articles) make so much money, see so many places, and be so unhappy. What a crock of shit. :)

Jakke PNG 04-11-2003 03:01 AM

I don't like linking park. I'd rather listen to Duran duran.

Plat 04-11-2003 03:06 AM

you muppet they write all their own songs, you know nothing about them.

I iz big fan and I think Meteora is a wicked album but I think hybrid theory is still better. While listening to Meteora I do sometimes think they are all singing negative vibes, mainly about hating someone or getting away from them.

Project-Shadow 04-11-2003 06:57 AM

I hated linkin park before this album..
THe older generation just has differnet taste :P

Turf 04-11-2003 07:42 AM

i think the new album rocks...

but then again if its all about hate , thats something ican relate to so that might be why i like it so much..

must say i never really listened to the lyrics just the music as hole..

Sarah_Jayne 04-11-2003 07:50 AM

nothing wrong with music being about hate. Hell, I would much rather an angry ass song then a flowery love song. Its just that by simply being about hate doesn't actually make their music sound like it is full of rage.

Honest rage + Well played loud and chunky gutair = chance to be good

MattO 04-11-2003 08:56 AM

lickin park sucks balls

Amber C 04-11-2003 09:05 AM

The new album kicks ass!!! It is full of different beats and rhymes!!! If it was the same as their previous stuff it would suck ass because it would be the same ole shit.
ROCK ON LINkiN PARK!!!! :GFYBand

iroc409 04-11-2003 09:06 AM

it's seems it's so hard to find an "original" song these days. even in the days of hendrix, there was a lot of remixes. unfortunately today it runs insanely rampant. bleh.

anyone remember "house of the rising sun"? awsome song, but nothing new. go out and download some leadbelly, "rising sun". :thumbsup

apparently the guy went to jail in like the early 1900's or something for stabbing someone in the stomach. i guess he was really just a bad, bad man. but someone heard him singing in jail so they got him out and made records :glugglug

fnet 04-11-2003 09:10 AM

Uh my former co-worker's 14 year old daughter played some linkin park for me once...

I was very polite about them sucking balls.

AdultNex 04-11-2003 06:00 PM

Funny thing is that half of you can't name a song of Linkin Park.

Knowledge comes before criticizing. :winkwink:

Pornwolf 04-11-2003 06:10 PM

Pick any two of these guys...

http://www.satelitemusical.net/linkinpark2.gif

...and put them in a no holds barred street fight against these two guys...

http://www.gusworld.com.au/music/wham/wham.gif

...and I bet the last two would win.
