to Google Ad Words advertisers

are you constantly able to maintain the requeired CTR if you state the price in your ad?

Darren 04-10-2003 03:27 PM

umm dont state price.

Outlandish 04-10-2003 03:30 PM

+3000 keywords and I have only faced under 0.7% twice!

It took some tweek but I managed to get above minimum :thumbsup

I do the search engine game for a living but a good advice would be that you take the low performers and make a special ad campaign for them...

Dude, you should give some advice on adwords. I am thinking of doing it, don't have a clue where to start.

Sorry for telling you to fuck off, and I don't think you are a loser. It was the beer talking. :angel

3000 keywords?
For one site or more?
If you run an campaing, how many ad groups do you use for it?

that's a good advice when it comes to PPC SE's indeed.
Currently I do the PPC SE game on a very limited scale, but I like it.
It requeires marketing and not designer skills :thumbsup :
However, I just started with Ad Words few days ago I can say that's it's not easy to wotk with them and to maintaign the minimum CTR...
But apparently "not easy" doesn't mean impossible.

Exxxotica 04-10-2003 05:06 PM

whats the minimum CTR? Does it vary per keyword?

MikeXAMO 04-10-2003 05:59 PM

The minimum CTR varies per keyword depending on your competition on the keyword.

I'm no expert, but I think this is how it works.. or am I wrong?

Lethal 04-10-2003 06:04 PM

buy andrew goodman's report on it, well worth the money.

Exxxotica 04-10-2003 06:20 PM

...thanks for the Andrew Goodman tip though. Looks like a lot of good info there.

polish_aristocrat 04-12-2003 03:08 AM

I think the minimum CTR is 0.5%, unless you bid the highest bid and your site is dispalyed on Google's partner sites and there's the min. CTR of 1.0%.

3000 sound like alot?

I have over 30,000 highly targetted phrases on a new campaign I am testing and I'm not even 1/3rd of the way through.

I've used adwords somewhat recently with 4 to 10 ad groups. However, on the campaign I'm testing now I have 25 ad groups now and will have around 140 if I decide to let it run full speed.

30,000 may sound like alot but they are extremely targetted.

Just as an example here are some fabricated numbers.

Say I would get 1000 clicks a day with 3000 highly targetted phrases I am shooting for 1000 clicks a day with 30,000 extremely targetted words or phrases.

lots of my keywords get declined, f.e for Google the term "hot cheerleaders" isn't related to adult content and they disable it so that I get better results and more targetted visitors LOL

A good way to know if it will get accepted is to see if other adult sites are advertising for that keyword/phrase. They're very picky about things like that and will break your balls a lot when you start out, but if you stick with adult terms you'll be ok, and after they get to know you they won't bother you as much anymore.

Can you mention what site you are promoting? How many keywords do you have now? If you let me know what direction you are trying to go in with advertising I can throw a few thousand keywords together in about 2 minutes.

Jon 04-12-2003 06:44 PM

I prefer regular listings over Adwords, get far more traffic..

Stupid question...do you think it is possible to make money from adwords pushing unique adult sites with member areas?

I have used adwords only lightly for free webcam sponsors and had a decent return. I took it offline to optimize it a bit more and target better.

Unique sites should do good if you get highly targetted keywords. I'm actually getting around a 4% ctr on mine right now and all my bids are only 5 cents because I targetted about as much as you can in bulk. If you wanna run a test email me and let me know what site you are pushing and I'll see if I can throw some keyword combos together. I have 30k keywords right now and I only get around 200 clicks per day on a 4% ctr. You could throw a few bucks at it to test it out.

Thanks! I am from the day when you could make 1000 pages, submit them to Alta Vista, and get traffic the next day. I want to try adwords, but don't want to spend $1000's screwing up all the time.

I charge ppl for running marketing, getting traffic to sites, placement of sites in search engines, etc. but perhaps I should take your offer in the spirit of GFY:glugglug

I'm just messing around, I'm sure you do great with them. I saw you said Alta Vista is your bitch. What kind of traffic can you expect from a top rank on popular terms and do they convert as good as others? I noticed a few things to get the pages up up up on Alta Vista also. :glugglug

Outlandish 04-12-2003 07:48 PM

to be honest the traffic I get from altavista is okay but not as good as back... you know the old same yada!

I still find google traffic the best but altavista is worth the hazzle. what I like the most is the altavista placements stay longer on top for me... (less work..hehe)

also some of the webmaster related keywords Im placed high on converts VERY VERY good!

Altavista can send good amounts of traffic on more popular keywords!
