Canada immigration

Anyone from europe done it? How did you do it?

Did you just go there and then apply to stay or did you apply for immigration visa before going?

p00p 04-10-2003 10:58 AM

Just show up and tell them you aren't leaving. You will get free food, shelter, medical treatment, welfare, and a drivers license whether or not you can drive.

PaulSweet 04-10-2003 10:58 AM

I'd recommend you do it before coming over here....just call up the canadian embassy. Or check online.

Yeah I've been looking into it but its a nightmare.. they want police reports from every country I've lived in (3 so far), medical reports, various certificates, loads of forms to fill in, and then I need to figure out what class of immigration to apply for.. can't really claim 'professional' status and can't really say I run a porn biz! :winkwink:

Yes, that license is definitely an asset when driving through China Town.

Why mention porn at all? Just say you run your own business. If they ask what it is, tell them the truth. Emphasize you skills and money making ability, downplay how you apply those skills to make money.

The only people who are really in the porn biz are the models. The rest of us are photographers, programmers/sysadmins, webmasters, consultants, businessmen, advertisers, etc.

Exactly - focus on your skills. If you don't have one already, register a Corporation or at least a biz. Show them you are a professional high tech contractor who will be able to take his existing skills and money into Canada with him. They will see it as a great opportunity to make more tax money....:Graucho

As far as all the forms go, you will have to do the same thing if you fly over here and try to stay. The only difference is they will put a mark against you for not following the proper channels.

Move to China and then bribe someone for $5000 USD for the Visa. That's how my EX GF got in.

Don't drive too fast though once you're here or they'll send you back to India.

Darin 04-10-2003 03:07 PM

About time Canada is checking their borders. Last thing the US needs is another terrorist!

Why you in a rush to leave Mark? Did your iraqi funding run out?

:Graucho

AdultNex 04-10-2003 03:12 PM

MikeXAMO 04-10-2003 06:07 PM

Number #1 way to get into Canada.. get a job recommendation letter from a Canadian company. I'd be happy to hook ya up.

I do one once a week for Koreans.. :glugglug

I've been thinking of registering a canadian corporation before going there.. maybe it will give me some brownie points when I come knocking on the door!

What are taxes like over there?

I called and they said it's up to the discretion of the guy at the border whether you are allowed in for a long period of time (6 month) or less.
