my Quote for the Day

"So many people walk around with a meaningless life. They seem half-asleep, even when they're busy doing things they think are important. This is because they're chasing the wrong things. The way you get meaning in to your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning."

I'm rereading a book and stumbled across this. Each time I read the passage it says something slightly different to me.
I wanted to share.
Anyone else have one they'd like to contribute?

So what you are saying is want to be married, banged in public at the local YMCA and have your husband leave you so you can take care of the kid alone ? That is a pretty profound statement !
Where do live again ?

- You know, in my country I am a majico -- a man with a dream, a man on a rise. I take nothing and make it something.

- Do you have a dream? Yes, you have a dream and maybe we will accomplish it. Why did you fail?

- Because I got caught.

- No, you failed, because you had the wrong dream! George, what do you know about cocaine?

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.

There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

i can see some true points behind it.. although i can see myself disagree on many things with a person who would write such a thing.

on the other hand, you can't really walk around all day having those existentialist feelings. that can only lead to confusion, and the later would only lead to non productivity.
but i am not saying that a productive life is a meaningful life ;)

There are costs of taking action and sometimes risks. But they are nowhere near the costs or risks associated with not taking action.

I can modestly say that I'm a kick ass cook, but the best I can do for rebuilding a motor is rewiring a vibrator for a higher power conversion.
Oh well, so close.

Saturday's big dinner night ~ how about Ginger and garlic marinated chicken breast, sauted and simmered with broccoli and carrots julienne in chicken broth and teriyaki sauce sprinkled with red pepper, topped with cashews. Side of white rice and a WHOLE LOT OF SAKE!
