maybe they made this commercial when the fake news of the bikers were heading to vote Trump & the music probably was because Amazons first episode of "the grand tour" also used this music & seems successful...

I guess everyone missed the irony - Born to be Wild was one of the soundtrack songs in Easy Rider - the movie which starred Peter Fonda (the guy that gets in the car and drives off)
This is a total ripoff from an ad that was done back in the 1990s or so for the Ford Cougar called Easy Driver starring the other Easy Rider star Dennis Hopper - what a bunch of idiots

It's pretty damn brilliant on the marketing level. Taking a German brand and revamping it by revamping the Easy Rider, ZZ Top, and Hell's Angels etc images, in a short commercial. They didn't re- invent the wheel in this one (Dennis Hopper in the 90's Ford commercial as one fellow member mentioned), but the messaging works. The camera work. editing, and design are always a pleasure with these guys too.

These are the smartest marketers - because they know the demographic they are appealing to...the Boomer white males - that are the highest population of Harley owners and most likely to purchase a Mercedes - and all probably saw the movie when it played back in 1969
