California court says pot bongs are legal (defying Ass-cro-ft)
Pot bongs legal
In another sign of the state-federal split over drugs, a state appellate court ruled Tuesday that possession of marijuana pipes is legal in California, just six weeks after bong-sellers around the nation were the targets of federal raids. The Court of Appeal panel in Riverside County said a 1975 California law "deliberately decriminalized the possession of a device for smoking marijuana. " The same law changed marijuana possession from a possible felony to an infraction punishable by a $100 fine. But federal law, which overrides state laws, continues to classify marijuana among the most dangerous narcotics, in the same category as heroin. Federal prosecutors have stepped up raids on medical marijuana suppliers in California and won convictions, though the state legalized medical marijuana in 1996 http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cg...9/BA275131.DTL As-hc-ro-ft justice department once again trying to override state rights by going after people for owning and selling bongs, when the state of California says they are legal. |

And this wasn't even in the San Francisco District. |
here in california.
during the time when most OUTDOOR herbs are grown here in southern california, there are known to be hundreds of helicopters in the air in some areas looking for crops etc... and a group got together to protest the helicopter flights due to noise and aggrivation over the city, and the people won. fight it all. even fight when the cops come snooping you can win. |
why do the feds feel the need to exercise control over this? there's no reason states should not be allowed to make their own rules and see what works. stupid bueracratic bullshit!

"On November 5, 1996, voters changed the complexion of the debate forever. Proposals were passed in California and Arizona that made "medical marijuana" available in California and all Schedule I drugs available by prescription in Arizona. In the months following the vote, concerned citizens in Arizona were able to overturn significant portions of this referendum with support from law enforcement and prosecuting attorneys. They convinced legislators to enact legislation insuring that proper scientific and medical criteria are used before any substance can be used as medicine. Leadership from the law enforcement community provided the needed direction to provide a truthful assessment of the proposition and to educate leaders about the terrible precedent that was being set. California law does not allow for such corrective action and presents a serious problem for those concerned with the damage that can occur from ill-conceived proposals that potentially legitimize "medical use" for a dangerous drug without the proper medical and scientific standards being adhered to. '"There are 100,000 total marijuana smokers in the US, and most are Negroes, Hispanics, Filipinos and entertainers. Their Satanic music, jazz and swing, result from marijuana usage. This marijuana causes white women to seek sexual relations with Negroes, entertainers and any others." Harry Anslinger, U.S. Commissioner of Narcotics, testifying to Congress on why marijuana should be made illegal, 1937. (Marijuana Tax Act, signed Aug. 2, 1937; effective Oct. 1, 1937.)
