Whats the most important part of a good members area?

What do you think makes a good paysite members area?

Exclusive content?
Lots of feeds?
High res pics?
Easy navigation?

What else?

lil2rich4u2 04-09-2003 04:04 PM

all of the above except maybe the feeds.

you forgot to add frequent updates.

gothweb 04-09-2003 04:05 PM

content, content, content

Machete_ 04-09-2003 04:06 PM

updates - and updates

SNIPER 04-09-2003 04:07 PM

Content is number one! I find that is always good to add a "Your Comments" beside the content, so that you can judge what your membership needs and wants.

As eveyone else said, content, content, and more content.

also, if you have exclusive stuff that always helps :)

offer your members prizes...

Mr. Jim 04-09-2003 04:14 PM

Of course I am bias but I really do believe that with Holio feeds you have so much content that it really does make a members area that much more attractive.

I think exclusive is very important too, but for the same amount of money youwill use to shoot one model you can have at least 22 different products that can be used in multiple members areas and your site looks like a mega site. Quantity definately has retention value.

If you are looking for licensed content Holio is definately a front runner as a solution.

INDEED!
buy my games, customize them and start contests... it will increase members retention for sure...

also a good ideea is to install a poll script asking their opinion.. what they want / like on the site etc...

JosephS 04-09-2003 04:37 PM

Thanks. All great idea.

But why didn't any of you suggest content as being important?

J/K.

Whats your views on the average industry retention rate?

2, 3 months?

Also, do you update your content by hand or have a script do it?

PaulSweet 04-09-2003 04:46 PM

You might have heard this one already, but the answer would be content :Graucho

get input from your members so you know what they like and want. this works!

angelsofporn 04-09-2003 04:50 PM

SGS 04-09-2003 04:52 PM

No offense Jim you have some neat stuff but really only suitable
to fill up a members area with it as a bonus. It certainly does not
cut the cake for main members content.

Yes.. yes .. content.

But what makes some content better than other content?

Besides the obvious like hot models.

Carrie 04-09-2003 05:26 PM

Personal interaction.
Give them a girl they can fall in love with, who will respond to their requests, ask their opinions, and answer their emails. Where they don't feel like a member, but a secret boyfriend.

reliabilty, volume, interacting interfaces, clever navigation, design that pops, and of course good content.

I agree that reinventing the wheel is great but it stil has to roll. All fast food chains have a drive through because it works.

If you have a members area that has nothing but exclusive content you will have to be very cash flow positive to maintain the volume of content your competition has. Remember at the end of the day is the member staying for the bragging rights that the members area has content only found on that site....no.

It is the idea that for this amount of money I can have as much adult material that I could ever want or need. If it is a very niche specific site then I will say that may be where exclusive content can be a slight advantage.

If it is a general adult site, you have to make them think that there is no reason to go to another site...the one they have joined has it all. Look at the big icons in the biz they run it all and I am quite certain they have proven the model they use is successful.

New faces for sure. Even exclusive sets is nothing because of the old used faces. Fresh blood, new models - that is the key IMHO.

Paul 04-09-2003 05:46 PM

Add a decent messageboard and try and create a small community amongst your members. Maybe employ a few people to post on your messageboard under the Alias of your most popular models.

Interaction is important, just look at how addictive GFY can be. If you could get a lot of members posting and interactinig with each other it could be great for retention

It really does vary with the site. I imagine there are sites with no feeds which do well, and ones with no stills (UltraWired.com comes to mind there).

But without frequent updates, there is no retention. You have to keep giving members a reason to resubscribe. After that, exclusivity is always good. The sooner you can have content not available anywhere else, the better.

AdultNex 04-09-2003 05:54 PM

Gimmicks work. It retains your customer base, and it works.

mike503 04-09-2003 05:59 PM

fuck feeds

they're cheap and garbage.

i join the site for the site's original content. movies only. tons and tons of movies in mpeg format. wmv is #2. divx is #3. mov/quicktime is #4. realplayer is #5, as far as priorities go. none of this streaming bullshit either. just easy to right click save as links.

EDIT: yeah, and update it frequently.

sites like ideepthroat.com are nice, except i wish they'd change their design/navigation a little. but there's daily updates, mpeg movies, no stupid bullshit.
