Philippines banned/shutdown Pornhub and Xvideos because of child porn

PH gov’t blocks popular porn sites

The Philippine government has blocked Internet users from accessing adult websites, just 10 days after a popular porn site found Filipinos to have spent the longest time watching adult content for the third straight year.

As of Saturday, access to known porn sites such as pornhub.com and xvideos.com had been forbidden, either through mobile phones or laptops. Users were redirected to a page notifying them of such a ban.

“This website has been ordered blocked under authority of the Philippine government pursuant to Republic Act 9775 or the Anti-Child Pornography Law,” the notice on the websites read.

The ban comes just days after Filipinos topped for the third straight year pornhub.com’s study of its users viewing behavior. Filipinos spent an average of 12 minutes and 45 seconds on the adult website, almost two minutes longer than a South African, which came in second.
Filipinos had topped the study since 2014.

As of writing, it is yet to be known if the two adult websites have violated any provision of the anti-child pornography law. Under this law, they are prohibited to host any child pornography content on their site.

Should such content find its way in their site, they are required within seven days to “report the presence of child pornography, as well as the particulars the person maintaining, hosting, distributing or in any manner contributing to such Internet address, to the proper authorities

They are also ordered to “preserve such evidence for purposes of investigation and prosecution by relevant authorities.”
In 2014, the National Telecommunications Commission issued a memorandum circular ordering Internet service providers to ban access to sites with child pornography materials.

Good one Philippines. Other countries should follow. :thumbsup

Don't be fooled it is just an excuse for censorship against ALL PORN

davidCRM 01-16-2017 01:09 AM

it's simple. personally the president doesn't like porn very much so he bans it.

here where i live the pm loves football so much he keeps building empty stadiums instead of hospitals / schools etc. you know, what the nation could really use. there was even a train line built between his hometown and an other town because he likes trains. there are many days when it operated with ZERO passengers but it had to be built because he likes it very much.

apparently any country heading towards illiberalism will end up being a playground of one person and his/her whims. this philippines porn ban is a good example :)

Their new President is a nut job - He has admitted to murdering drug SUSPECTS and pushed one out of a helicopter...

So, just slightly to the left of Trump:winkwink:.....

Damn who's gonna upload all the stolen content to those sites now?

Imagine all the lost revenue with no Philippines customers!

I bet Filipinos watch the most Pornhub, subscribe the least and highest chargeback rate, just a guess :winkwink:

If you're in the production side of the industry then you support censorship against ALL porn because it exponentially raises its value

If you're a webmaster or site owner then you hate the idea of any kind of censorship because it puts you out of business.

If they banned porn here in the States, maybe young adults would start working again and start manufacturing again, instead of sitting on their asses, living at home, buying shit on Amazon and bitching about who is running the country.

American is in a huge slump. No balls, no testosterone, no productivity, but plenty of free porn for all!!! God Bless America!!! :thumbsup

Exactly. It affects both webmasters and producers... and I agree that a certain level of censorship would actually be good, but only if it was aplied across all modern world, not just some countries.

xXXtesy10 01-16-2017 09:42 AM

I've been in this industry since the days of showing porn in back rooms on 16mm. I can honestly say is that we made a hell of a lot more money and there was always a "channel of distribution."

Even today in countries like Saudi Arabia there's channels of distribution that don't use the Internet and you'll be able to find swinger clubs, gay clubs, etc.

Meh I donno, PH isn't a country that will convert for you so losing that traffic probably makes your site convert more. If you sell to Ad Networks it probably makes your traffic CPM's go up if you lose shit tier geo's

Compared to what we used to spend on a movie and what we used to earn when porn was illegal. I could wipe my ass with what the Internet porn earns.

Their president is like the next Castro. So many human rights violations already...His government is paying citizens to kill all drug dealers, and their not even trying to hide it. The guy's a nutjob in all aspects.

we're probably already working our economic magic against them behind the scenes, like we did to Venezuela .

Any country that's against the U.S.....gets sent to the shitter.

Tasty1 01-16-2017 01:42 PM

Another country of my bucket list

“Hitler massacred three million Jews … there’s three million drug addicts. There are. I’d be happy to slaughter them.”

The term “user” was defined in the report as someone who had used drugs at least once in the past year.

Just how big is the drug problem in the Philippines anyway? | SBS Dateline

I know some people who better move out. No drugs, no porn, no life.

China is taking our place in the Philippines and Duterte wants the US off its bases there to be taken over by China. China is giving him $5 trillion.

Duterte aligns Philippines with China, says U.S. has lost
