Apparently she had a fucked up family. Her mother was a drug addict, her stepdad beat her up and abused her. She just had no escape out of a shithole. No lifeline to hang on to.

When you parents are fucked up junkies and cunts and you're getting abused as a 12-year old... where the fuck can you go? I've heard her town was also a shithole too.

Sad as fuck, makes me wish I could do something to rescue someone like that, but I'm a single guy so, adoption is kind of out of the picture because they don't trust single men to raise a kid, they suspect them all of being child abusers.

Extremely sad, but other than the streaming of it, suicide among teens, is a daily occurence, males as well as females.

A guy I went to High School with's kid just hung herself before Christmas. She passed away last weekend.

She was 13.

I know what you mean about being a single male and not being able to work with youth without suspicion it sucks. I have a lot of experience going through the system as a kid for similar reasons as this girl and I'd love to mentor others going through similar things but it's not in the cards it seems.

I read about this girl a couple days ago and watched the video ( stopped before the actual hanging, before she stepped off ) Then I watched a few of her Youtube videos and just felt overwhelming sadness for this girl. I didn't post anything about it here as I didn't feel this was the appropriate place.

She had such an open bright spirit just wanting to express and share it's just so sad she wasn't one of the lucky ones to be saved.

The worst part is the store story. God, can you imagine the pain? The emotional damage that just goes to the core of your being?

Sad as fuck when she says "Good bye" and steps off. Then you hear her mom in the background calling out her name, looking for her. Her phone rings, but she will never answer...

Agreed, the world is full of kids who die from lack of food or access to clean drinking water and this kid even has access to everything including broadband internet to stream her death (intentional) so boo hoo for her.

I didn't watch the video but even before death she seems like the kind of kid that was desperately seeking attention.
The complaints about her life are pretty shallow tbh.

I did see the video. Heart wrenching. I regret watching it. My niece is the same age as her and I could never in my life imagine her doing something like that. Very sad. Kinda makes me think would she have done it if she never had the internet. I mean it's call for help and a need for attention. This is the ultimate attention grabber, and probably why she streamed it. Unfortunately she's too young to understand the consequences of her actions. I don't know her mind set, but I think if there was no online community to stream to, she wouldn't have done it. Same with many others who streamed their last moments. I could be wrong.

A troubled young girl with a disastrous home history. Sad to see she had to go this route and she couldn't see a different way out of it. 6 years from now she might have been in a totally different situation.

I don't think she wouldn't have done it if internet didn't exist. I had two relatives who committed suicide in a time where there was no internet. They were desperate and they disappeared without communicating to anybody.

She was desperate and had no relatives to support her so I think that communicating was just a way to get some kind of moral peace like the terminally ill people who prefer to be surrounded with loved ones before passing away.

I think if i get the chance if/when i decide to take my own life it will be a large overdose of pills and go into a sleep i won't wake up from.

It's harder than you think with pills.

People have to stop sheltering there kids and let them out, stop it with the paranoia and over exaggerating the dangers of everything.

It's not that hard actually. After about 20 secs you lose consciousness because the rope restricts the blood-flow to your brain (like in a police choke). And that's it. You can hang yourself on a door knob.

The other way is to jump from a higher up so that the rope snaps your neck.

I know the reaction time depending on amount consumed and what exactly has been consumed can actually last for days of horrific pain.

My cousin died within mins of overdosing as far as we are aware.

I have some hefty pills here as my "if required" on standby lol.

The girl is that clip looked like she struggled for quite some time...

thing is though, copycat suicide is a real, documented phenomenon. even in death we have responsibilities that linger. don't think someone out there won't do what she did, teetering on the edge but pushed over by the drama of it

easiest way apparently is the helium bag. requires a ton of prep though (tank, private space to store the prep stuff, cash for both). and not easy for the person who finds the body. someone close to me found someone close to her that way. according to the literature apparently minimal distress. for him. she will never be the same though

re this particular suicide we're so weird about this stuff though. if this kid acted her pain and anger outward instead of inward she'd be a delinquent (and if racialized a hardened criminal as well) and prob would have ended up in the criminal justice system and/or a mom on social assistance. and would be vilified and mocked

we don't as a collection of people in one common community do enough to pay attention, care for and protect each other. we don't need government agencies with acronyms to do that.
