Reselling foreign DVDs legal or not?
 

Anybody has the following experience...?

We have licensed DVD rights to UK. When the rights expired ( I presume) the UK distributor sold the unsold copies to a UK wholesaler...So far so good, but then,

...some US DVD online outfit bought them from the UK wholesaler, and is selling them in the US and Worldwide... Much cheaper then our own shop.... They claim the first sale exemption.... Anyobody has an opinion ??

Piracy or not?

so do you own the dvd? is it your dvd and a copy is being sold or, you bought a lot of the named dvd to sell on your site & now another site is also selling this dvd?

My thoughts, I wouldn´t say it´s piracy unless they are copies being sold of the original. I would suggest it is a copyright infringement if you have the UK sales rights :2 cents:

Yes, we own ALL rights World wide.... Somebody from the USA bought copies only licensed in the UK and re selling them in the USA even though they were never licensed to be sold outside UK territory. So they are original UK DVDs sold in unlicensed territory.

Definitely unauthorized sales.
I would contact the platform being used to sell them.

Thanks for your advice, but you cannot fight the Tax Department or Amazon...:1orglaugh and it is the later of the two which is harder to fight ...:2 cents:
