I hear that all the time from people who are in the IT industry and want out because of arrogant wiseguys like that.

I've studied for sysadmin for about 2 years, I think they get a serious God complex from people asking them to do this and that. You said it yourself, it's your business they are playing with, who do you pray to when your server stops working properly? Not God, lol.

But I'm nice though ;)

if they're your sysadmin they should treat your shit like their own. especially if you pay someone to be a dedicated one (and it's not something your hosting company supplies)

The sysadmin (on a company I recently left) once made changes to things so that my logs no longer reflected what username visited my website -- it would list an IP only, the "username" part was just now "proxy" or some nonsense.

I emailed to ask what was up and what had changed, and they gave me a long story. I emailed back and said it was vital I have this information, and I was told, "nothing can be done, get over it".

GET OVER IT?

HA. I called their uplink provider, asked what had changed and how it could be fixed, and got a very nice tier 3 tech who explained it all to me and how it could easily be fixed.

I emailed my sysadmin who then attempted to yell at me for going to his uplink provider! I told him if his partner hadn't told me to 'get over it' and acted half-way professional instead of half-assed all the time, I'd not have had to lift a finger. This was going to affect MY business and "get over it" was not an appropriate response.

He then went on to give me bullshit about how he was working hard to find a fix for me and all I needed to do was have patience, but don't EVER fucking go to my host again!
