Spam Ethics... how spammy is this?

I have a site in which Im selling "mainstream" products. When the customer places an order, Im automaticly adding them to my mailing list... which is basicly a nicely done email featuring monthly specials and new product information. (no porn)

Ive got my regular opt in list, but feel that by adding these emails, I might increase my traffic and sales. OR do you think would I could be detering potential buyers from purchasing from me in the future?

Ive been doing it for a couple of months now, and have had no complaints, and very few "removes".

I know personaly, I get pissed when I get unsolicited spam... but If I get an email from a company that Ive bought something from, I dont really mind. I actually sometimes open the email to see what they are offering.

How do you hetero and homosexuals feel about this?

Do you at least have a checkbox on the order form to not subscribe?

[x] I agree to the terms of sale
[x] Yes! Send me money saving offers n shit!

Ya know?

The ones that "opt out" you should put them on your spam email list and send them links to cum feista.

no :(

I would if I could though. The company that does the shopping cart and order processing doesnt currently offer that. They say they are working on adding that feature though.

Just make sure you tell them that they ar ebeing added to your mailing list. Also be sure they know that they can rewmove themselves at any time.

I add all of my members to my mailing list. It's in the TOS of my site. I can't see any problem with that.
