What is your definition a whale???

I think I asked an affiliate manager a few years ago and they said 10+ sales a day. What's your definition? :pimp

NatalieK 12-21-2016 04:48 PM

a whale has so many different definitions, from every angle of the business.

from a cam girl's suggestion, it can be a customer returning every week, maybe spending 50 or 100, although, i've entertained twice a day to the same person for 20 or so each time but through 2 or 3 weeks. Maybe one person comes along & spends 150 to 200 with you once. Any of these people could be classed as a whale.

With regards to affiliates, probably 5 sales a day or even 20 or 30 each month would seem like a whale of a webmaster to me.

CurrentlySober 12-21-2016 05:15 PM

A very large marine mammal with a streamlined hairless body, a horizontal tail fin, and a blowhole on top of the head for breathing.

fuzebox 12-21-2016 05:15 PM

I think whale starts at 50+ sales a day.

10+ is just active affiliate.

Isn't it relative to the size of the program (if you frame the question from the perspective of aff. manager)? :)

MrMaxwell 12-21-2016 08:47 PM

Someone who can bankrupt a casino OR any square who spends thousands of dollars consistently at some cam show

On da affiliate end depends on the product as shit sells at different profit margins and at different conversion ratios.

Woke up this morning to a new cam spender who spent $275.33 so far today and a lot of day left so see if a one time spend or if he joins my list of the ones that continually dump hundos a month, so he could be a whale customer.

The thread title is literally "what's your definition".

That is my definition for 2017. In the consolidated, corporate, tube-traffic world of online adult, if an affiliate isn't sending 10 sales a day he is not a significant income source for the program, and definitely not a whale. At 50 sales a day he becomes a real marketing channel alongside in-house media buys.

If your affiliate manager is making $50k/year, the company needs 400 revshare members or 10 pps sales a day at an average margin just to cover his salary.

PornDiscounts-V 12-23-2016 08:08 AM

To the program am affiliate should do perhaps $3k per month to a small program and $10k for larger ones. That is just to get noticed over the other affiliates who are good at promoting sites.

You still can try answering of what you think is a whale affiliate, no need to own a program :)

tokmansta 12-23-2016 12:13 PM

20k-50k a month is the starting point imo.

The Porn Nerd 12-23-2016 12:48 PM

At this point ANY affiliate who sends CONSISTENT sales could be termed a "whale". Whether that be 1, 5, 10 or 50 sales a day as long as it is consistent.

Those are active affiliates, not whales. I'm with fuzebox on this one.

This thread is a mess, because some people are clearly talking about $1 dating joins, while others about $30 paysite joins.

Yes but who exactly is sending daily 50+ full joins (not $1 trials) to paysites these days? :)

Exactly.

The days of a paysite getting 50+ joins per day FROM A SINGLE AFFILIATE are long over I would think.

I'm with WG on this one for regular paysite programs.

Most of the guys I know doing 100+ paysite joins a day do this to various programs.

Paul Markham 12-24-2016 02:44 AM

Mammal that one lived on land and now lives in the sea.

Or did you mean that extinct species of big customers or affiliates?

Now THAT'S a cam whale! :helpme (Two, actually; someone else dropped nearly $2k in 24h later in the thread).

Was in 2012 though, and definitely not a typical level of member spend...

Cyber Fucker 12-24-2016 06:31 AM

I don't have one. But when I think about it I think about someone who owns a site with rank less than 1000 in Alexa ranking.

Calling groupers whales doesn't make them make them whales.

50+ sales a day = 18,250 a year. LOL, LOL, ROFL.

Or 50+ sales a day = 50,000 hits a day on a porn blog. LOL, LOL, ROFL.

Damn, I'm not a whale any more :Oh crap

http://i.imgur.com/LXOUHY9.jpg

Still, programs #3 and #4 I only started with 2.5 months ago, maybe I can get those numbers up for next year :thumbsup

edited to add:

btw I'm a fucking *nobody* as an affiliate, completely insignificant. The guys doing real numbers are too sensible to waste their time replying to the 'no money in porn' threads/posts. My goal is to keep on, and reach that point at some stage. For now, I'm a tadpole.

God damn, you fucking old senile RETARD.

50 sales / day at $30PPS = $1500 per day (anyone with 50 sales a day will get much better rates of course, but whatever)
$1500/day x 30 days = $45,000 per month
$45k/month x 12 months = $540,000 / year

Just unplug your fucking PC already and spare us your bullshit.
