Backlink Building Strategy For A Tube Site?

Can anyone recommend a good back-link building strategy for a tube site? I do not intend to purchase links.

I have a tube site with around 1k embedded videos. I understand that google prefers to see organic growth but this is quite difficult as people are unlikely to post a link to a porn site and all social media links such as tumblr and twitter are no-follow.

I have a few ideas such as uploading videos to other tubes with a link , posting on forums with my link in the signature, and listing in directories. I would also like to see some organic growth but have no idea how to do this.

Is anyone able to shed some light on this for me?

Thank you.

first do on site optimizations and make everything as custom as possible (titles and descriptions, add more text to pages, etc).

as for link building it's trial and error in the short run, and when you see what works for your site stick to that in the long run.

Check out your top competition, see what they are doing and try to do something similar.

Pretty much always the right answer.

Honestly though, adult SEO usually involves buying/selling/trading links. If you want to rank in google you'll probably have to buy some links at some point. But IMO a tube with 1000 embedded vids probably won't rank no matter what you do; you should be going for social traffic, instead. :2 cents:

Video uploads to big sites in the industry with watermark, catchy titles, descriptions and link to your Tube site. This tactic give in the past for one my client + 15 000 UV per month.

you will need to do link buying/trading to get some decent links, other kind of links mentioned in this thread can bring some clicks but won't help your SEO at all. anyway, working on SEO/link building for a tube with 1000 video embeds (duplicate content) is just a waste of time and money, it will be hard to rank and compete with the real sites.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I use social media as well, I have a number of tumblr accounts pushing traffic to my tube.

What strategies would you suggest for getting a tube/ site to rank on google? I would love to be able generate traffic organically, as a long term goal.

Are there any educational resources you can vouch for? I don't mind paying if it's good.

You have to have strong user engagement metrics. Low bounce rate, high time on site, many page views per visit.

That's why a tube with 1000 vids usually can't rank. People won't spend very much time on a site with only 1000 embedded videos when they can go to a site with 2 million hosted videos.

Direct/social/referral traffic helps a lot too. Pushing traffic to your site from twitter/tumblr/reddit/facebook would help your google rankings. Google likes sites that have traffic. The more the better.

Interesting. What sort of numbers, in your opinion, should you aim for as regards user metrics - bounce rate, time on site, etc?

You shouldn't be aiming for any particular number. You should be aiming to make the most engaging site you can.

The most engaging tubes/aggregators--the ones that get google traffic--lots of them have time-on-site above 5 minutes and bounce rates below 50%.
