Remember watching the coverage of his flight on tv in my classroom at school - little did we know the history we were experiencing

Yep, on the roll-in cart in B&W.

And at home, the Cuban missile crisis later that year.

jsmih 12-08-2016 07:39 PM

Met him once while he was Senator. What an amazing life he had.

ufotestpilot 12-08-2016 07:41 PM

An American hero in every sense of the word. Hate to hear of his passing, but he certainly led a full life.

No, we went to the moon in 1969. The Cuban middle crisis was 62 or 63

Too soon?
The fucker didn't get hit by a drunk driver at 18 he died of Fucking OLD AGE!

He was also in one of the largest lies ever told. He's probably in hell right now.

Yes we went to the moon n 1969, but Glenn was not an Apollo astronaut. His flights were in 1962 and 1998, and neither went to the moon.

Really??!?!?! Wow that's amazing! I've met a few celebs but no one as cool as John Glen.

If you're a Space Geek and interested in the Apollo and other eras of the space program, go to Nasa and take the extended tour. It lasts about 5 hours or so, but it's really something. They take you to the original launch pads and inside the original control rooms, which are all still intact, and even to a time capsule. It's a really cool tour that's worth the time and money (about $75 I think). It's alot better than the basic tourist tour that just shows you old movies.

Adnium_Ivana 12-09-2016 09:16 AM

If i could have 1/4th of an adventurous life that John Glenn lead, I would be very happy. RIP

Lykos 12-09-2016 02:55 PM
