one thing u should do... on the webmasters page, before they have to signup, post the AVS guidelines, ie: members area content requirements/minimums, etc... etc... cause a lot of people willl have signed up and jus wasted their time if their existing sites dont meet the requirements.

Another new definition of "truly free", I see.

stain 04-07-2003 03:59 AM

well...
of course we need to earn some money, and you know how 'free avs' work.
at least we don't let them signup for a full membership for 49.95$ at a paysite like other AVS are doing it...

anyways - AVS's like ours convert better than those full membership ones...

try yourself :)

I wanted to offer my opinion and hope you don't take offense to it.

I visted your signup page and this is what i noticed.

First you have a cross sell i believe, which in my opinion should not be 'pre-checked'....or hell, probably shouldn't even be there to begin with, since your about to charge them $38 bucks for your site alone....anyway, which reads below:

"Special Offer to New Members!!!
Click here to signup for a 3 day NO CHARGE Membership to Porn Turbo - Three Day Trial Membership. After 3 days, Membership renews automatically at $38.61 every 1 month. "

then, there's the fine print for your AVS below the cross sell which reads,

"There is NO CHARGE for the intial 30 minutes preview. After the preview you will receive a 1 day trial membership for only $4.95(unless cancelled). Thereafter you will be billed $39.21 every 1 month(s) until cancelled. "

30 minute preview?

I'm so anal about charge backs, that if i were to do this, I would go as far as putting both of those "fine prints" ABOVE the cc fields where surfers enter their CC information. Make triple sure that they see it.

Right now, both the above fine prints are below the CC fields where the surfer enters their info.

Look, I'm not at all sticking up for surfers who don't read the 'fine print,' but lets be honest here. Most have their dick in their hand when their signing up. In my opinion, it's stuff like this that gets this industry into trouble in the first place, causes tons of charge backs, and brings heat on everyone. Not saying you get chargebacks mind you, and not saying what your doing is wrong either...cause what your doing isn't wrong. The surfers just better read.

But get enough chargebacks, and Visa won't give a shit if your wrong or right...period..end of story.

If i was the surfer and didn't read all of it cause i just wanted my access to drop my load, i would see a $70 charge on my card. Instant chargeback.

These days, with Visa being up everyones ass, you have to be extra extra careful. Once your TMF'd by Visa it's all over.

I don't know.....to each their own i guess. Just my opinion though. And don't take my word for it. I don't have much information to back my words. Hopefully some others will post and either agree or disagree and give some input.

Well, flame if you must. :)

On another note, it's a beautiful site. Nice work on the design and layout. Congrats on your launch.

@ MikeEP

i understand your point. of course the problem with free AVS is that the surfers have to read carefully before they signup.
but everything is stated clearly on the site.

chargebacks won't be a problem since this AVS is calculated very carefully and we know what we are doing to not get into conflict with visa.

about your rating on our design - thank you very much ;)

Hello Mike,

This is not some special signup process we came up with.
We currently use the stadard epoch flexpost which is in action
on literally thousands of adultsites for a long time. It is proven
to work very well and rather conservative compared to what
you see nowadays coming from other companies ;)

exactly JOP :)

What you're saying is true to a certain extent. I don't think everyone would instantly chargeback tho coz after they are done most would wander around and see what else they can watch for their next load dropping. Sure some people will sign up for the sake of a quick "drop of their load" but a lot of them will also sign up because:

1. They like the site they are signing up from
2. They intentionally wish to use this more than once
3. They are drunk and don't know what they are doing

Ok so the third one is full of shit but the other two are for real!

So in that respect this could work out to be a very worth while AVS. On the other hand, what if most people sign up for one day and then cancel? Stain has to pay his webmasters $15 - $20 and he has only made $5

I think it has the potential to do well...... it needs to be marketed properly now - as Mike pointed out in other parts of his post!

Hope all goes well for you anyway mate! :thumbsup

JOP are you interested for french translation for your websites?

Thanks Ross for your post. very useful :thumbsup

Correct me if i am missing something here. The front page says "access to thousands of sites" but under participating sites i only see about 30 listed. If you only have 30-40 sites, or even a few hundred, how can you compete with others who actually do have many thousands? Also, where are the tos, site requirements, etc?
Again, correct me if i am wrong, but looks like you are not ready yet.

The terms are on the actual signup page. Every AVS Network
has to start somewhere. We got some very large sites in the
network right away. Itīs our first day out there with this,
but itīs allready going great :)

yeah but you dont have THOUSANDS of sites.

Basically oure lying to the surfer, then trying to pull 38 bucks out of them once they get inside and you dont have shit in your AVS.

funny.

you arent afraid of chargebacks but your whole operation is based on something you do NOT PROVIDE.

'Access to thousands of sites'

Druid 04-07-2003 04:47 PM

sure they donīt have tousands of sites yet, but they sure will soon.
Itīs brand new man! JOPs stuff is allways tight. he made webmasters quite some cash in the past and this one will be all good too.

I would join right away if I was into this AVS stuff :)

good luck with it!
