Yeah. Good album. I like The Becoming best. I just listened to it again for the first time in a year or so for an English 101 essay.

I got into NIN right before Broken came out. Pretty Hate Machine was a classic. It wasn't so polished, and felt like it could mature, but it was amazing.
Broken was a great departure into guitar-heavy territory, but the technical skill and emotional power was still there. The Downward Spiral was a masterpiece, in a way. I am not sure if I like it more than the previous two, but it has a lto going for it. His style really matured, and developed. It feels like he learned a lot technically, and made the best album he could. After that, it was pretty much downhill. He has done some good songs, but the latest real album (The Fragile) is pretty much a load of arse. |
