Clean slate brands with clean slate domains -- welcome to the interwebs ... There is a new generation of buyers -- they like new ideas ...

I wonder if google.cam would pick up many typos?

Barry-xlovecam 10-25-2016 10:22 AM

No, a and o are on the opposite sides of the keyboard -- d'OH.

Verisign lost to us on that one in an ICANN string contest arbitration a over a year ago.

We have been approached by Google for a word mark name that Google wants for? (a new brand?)

You've never gone blank when typing and ended up with your fingers typing their own words?

I think .cams would be stronger in terms of branding potential.

Sounds interesting, I will try to get some domains for sure.

What will the price be for a .cam in the open registration and will any special discounts be running? Like you can buy .webcam for 88c first year etc.

I wouldnt bother at all with the "premium" words for .cam but focus on giving clients an "all in one" solution for live streaming...from security cams to dashboard car cams that stream to the cloud to monitoring workforce/pets/kids/babies cams etc...a complete platform with a whitelabel kind of website for the user to customize, custom software that is easy to set up, cloud hosting and storage, monitoring from mobile etc...even selling hardware like actual cams that connect to your all in one solution...

That is up to the registrar you deal with -- we are a registry.

The deal with $0.88 domains is that they are priced as lost leaders. .info was sold for $1 for the first year and we see what happened with that TLD ...

Assuming normal markups I would expect registrars to be selling .cam names at a $25.00 - $30.00 median price. We do not set the retail price the registrar charges. At this time we have no plans, to the best of my knowledge, of offering special discounts to any Registrar.

I agree with that concept personally.
However, that would be down the road in terms of a few years. Also, there are matters of amortizing the software development and generating current operating revenue in excess of expense of such projects.

The 'internet of things' will also create new options. However, watching your internet connected refrigerator may be of little interest.

We are not planning on selling hardware.

Something like live broadcasting supported by advertising -- an Internet user/broadcaster receiving a cut of the advertising revenue is part on 'my' larger picture.
4G and Periscope were an affirmation of my inspiration in 2012
