rather interesting question that needs to be asked

How much do webmasters care about fancy graphics on an affiliate program? I see lots of programs putting out all kinds of flashy photochopped front ends and out of this world flash websites but the product doesn't convert worth a damn. How many of you judge a program by the front end?

i can easily get a nice flash site but as you can see my affiliate site is plain to the point and simple and def. does the job

I tend to agree. There are a few obscure sponsors I use that convert very well who do not have a fancy front end. But before I tend to try a sponsor I ask around and also look at total net presence so that way I can know what type of traffic to send and how I will market it

Too, there's a good saying I heard once... you can dress a pig in a tuxedo, but it doesn't make him James Bond.

As a designer I would say simple, functional, neat and clean is more important for a webmaster site. Webmasters know what its all about anyway so graphics isn't really going to sell it. Just looks better.

SothArtist 04-04-2003 06:08 AM

and ofcourse informative hehe

It's the end product what matters.

I dont like really flashy affiliate sites, i tend to usually get lost trying to use the damn thing or my eyes taken away by some blinking crap from what was really important not to miss.

You can have whatever the fuck you want on an affiliate site to make it looks nice and presentable, but does that mean the paysites convert?

Straight forward and to the point. Thats how I like it.

as long as everything needed is easy to find and loads fast i don't care about fancy graphics.

I demand high graphics. Lots of images of stacks of cash zooming in and out, lamborghini's with their headlights blinking, some Vegas style lights flashing all over the screen, etc. The more blinking and flashing and zooming the better. I equate blinking and flashing and zooming with money. Lots of money.

I don't find this question even remotely interesting.

Amen brother. The sheep need to be able to find the tour and signup quickly and easily. Otherwise, the short attention span kicks in and they're gone.

Sarah_Jayne 04-04-2003 08:07 AM

could care less what something looks like if it sells

LadyMischief 04-04-2003 08:10 AM

I don't know, but I've always found that when it comes down to the punch, no matter where or what, simplicity is always best :)

Gutterboy 04-04-2003 08:13 AM

I hate flashy affiliate pages. If I click on an affiliate link I want to look at your tours then read your terms, not waste time waiting for a bunch of flash programming or animations to load then having to wade through the flashing shit to find what I want.

Ian 04-04-2003 08:55 AM

No fancy graphics, just paying 60% and good conversions. :)

good question , but when your trying to attract a tech savvy person, the ammount of technology advances displayed matters. A good designed affiliate program is a precursor to good designed sites, with a few exceptions.
