Well that scared the heck outta me

Got the tv on in my office.. I walked out to the kitchen then all the sudden hear that annoying BaaaaBaaaahh sound that the emergency broadcast network makes. As I was walking back to the office, I heard this huge boom. All I could think of is something was happening in the States related to the War in Iraq. I get back to the TV and it's one of their dang "monthly scheduled test". I go looking for the source of the huge boom. A dang lumber company truck had just off loaded a bunch of lumber at the house being built a couple of lots away (they just drop the stuff off the back of the flatbed trailer).

Now if I can get my heart back to a normal beat.

LOL, PK, I'm with ya! The day the war started, I was in my office and my son was in the basement and we heard a huge bang. We met on the middle floor and both said "I sure hope that was thunder!". It was, but it sure makes you skittish. :winkwink:

LOL, that's funny as hell,

Like the time my Dad was crossing a ditch, and I sprayed an old whip cream can he thought was a rattle snake, LOL.

I thought I was dead :)

Were ya watching GoodDay on 13?

Paranoya struck me as well at lunch today. Wierd looking guy cam into the diner and looked around all freakish and set this big duffle bag on a table and walked back outside. I was about to bolt the fuck outa there. Luckily he came back in in a few seconds because he left his wallet out in the car.

I thought he was leaving a bomb at first! :1orglaugh

All you have to fear is fear itself.

be glad you dont live in louisiana (for more reasons then I'm about to list) we get those stupid EBS alarms almost daily. Anytime it rains "severe thunderstorm or tornado warnings" should we ever actually NEED that system i'll be screwed since I pay it no mind when it goes off.

I live downtown and I work till the wee hours of the morning as most of us do. EVERY night I hear the loudest bangs and explosion sounds. But I never see anything - sometimes it sounds like a cruise ship has smashed into the dock or someone dropped a dumptruck off a high building. Very odd stuff. Sometimes I think it may be coming from the container ships and the cranes that lift containers - but they don't work at 2am.

:helpme

You won't hear a boom first, you'll either see a blinding flash of light, feel a shockwave, or get roasted.
