From she who has been a bartender:
Do not heat the snifter itself. Instead heat the brandy, then pour it into the snifter. The best way to do this is to pour the brandy in a flask (metal works best, but can leave a funny aftertaste, so I use glass) and make sure the cap is on firmly, then set the flask in hot water. The hotter the water, the hotter the brandy, and brandy that's too hot is nasty. You want it at about 100 degrees before pouring it from the flask into the snifter. It should be warm and comfy in the hand (snifter will not be too hot; think baby formula temperature) before sipping. Hope that helps. *EDIT: Forgot to tell you how long to let the flask sit in the water. Usually takes about five to seven minutes, so that the alcohol can gradually warm. Enjoy. |
Run the glass under hot water to warm it... pour the cognac by letting it run slowly down the inside of the rim of the glass so you don't bruise it.. Let it sit 5 minutes..then enjoy.
every tried any Hennessy Timeless? I'm out and looking for some more. |
if you don't have access to a proper heater that is made for snifter heating, a good cup of hot coffee will work as well... just set the snifter canted at an angle on top of the full coffee cup. it will heat it up ok... just be sure not to dip your cock into the coffee when its still too hot juicy..

Excuse my ignorance, but I thought the whole point of the snifter glass was that your HAND heated it?

Damn Kitty... Timeless? That's a bit much to pay for alcohol! Is it that much better? I've had Louie XIV before and the difference is negligable so how is Timeless?

Alot of that bottle price is the decanter. That's part of buying good cognac. |

The other high high end cognac I tried a while back was Courvoisier L'Esprit. Where Timeless is made up of 11 different cognacs, L'Esprit is made up Cognac dating from 1802 to 1929. It was just a bit too sweet for my taste. I've read the taste is like prunes with a bit of lemon.

Warm the liquor, not the glass. :2 cents:
