When replying to an email do you...

Insert your reply below the email you are replying to?

Most email clients default the cursor under the email you are replying to.

I always add my reply above their email, don't know how this appears to them though.

The most important part of replying to an email is picturing yourself on the receiving end, just for a few seconds -- and deciding if it's a good idea to hit the send button. Everything else is secondary.

Never below. Who the hell wants to scroll to see my reply?

CurrentlySober 10-12-2016 12:34 AM

Always quote from the text of their email and then address each item. Most people are too thick to remember what they said to you, so it always serves well to remind them.

I presume their is a reason clients default to below the message.

:2 cents::2 cents:

suspect half the internet would disappear if peeps actually heeded that principle though

to the OP, on top. receive lots of emails with the reply on the bottom though, doesn't really matter to me.

hdbuilder 10-12-2016 04:54 PM

sure, but its automatic on my email client not you?

Jane BongaCash 10-13-2016 07:30 AM

yeah haha :D above their email

Serge Litehead 10-13-2016 08:40 AM

people are lazy to change email subject when starting a new subject and using last email to reply with. this messes up any intent to keep track of conversations on point.

If it's a business conversation I almost always reply on top of the last correspondence so there's a e-trail of our conversation and where we last left off. It provides a chronological trail should someone forget what we discussed or if they're looking for a comment made previously. It also helps when you have to forward a particular email without linking the WHOLE thread.

If it's an email between friends, like a long thread with friendly banter or something, I just erase the their comment and leave mine before I hit reply.

Windows Live email defaults to the top of the email.

Before that Outlook Express did the same. Incredimail - same.

I have yet to see one that starts your cursor below the other person's comments.
