I agree. That's like a doctor lazily tossing a transplanted heart into his patient's chest and expecting everyone to be fine with it. If it is your profession then you should at least have basic mastery of what goes into it, in this situation namely the english language and proper grammar.

Actually that is just a transcript of the TV news broadcast from last night. It's not actually a newspaper article.

There were 2 newspapre articles but they are not in the online editions (yet).

I don't want my picture circulating through the prison system. :(

What's sad is that quite probably, the writer had great spelling and punctuation in his reporting, but whoever did the copy-editing fucked it all away. Before anything is published, (in lots of cases this includes internet publication), it's copy edited at least once, and often twice.

But it's always the writers who catch the shit for mistakes. After all, it's their name attached to the story.
