Jakke PNG 04-02-2003 05:56 AM

Isn't everything free on the internet? I think so.

bhutocracy 04-02-2003 05:57 AM

Gothweb means to say that he's always telling people that his content is public domain, you can go to any of his sites and just use any of the images for TGP or whatever you like, apparently he's getting tired of having to repeat himself :)

Does hentai have to be licensed? YEP
Most of the stuff is 'borrowed' though because people think the Japanese copyright owners won't go after them.

Alot of the Asian content is stolen aswell for the same reason.

And if you think the English galleries are bad, you should look at non english stuff, I get people submitting scanned playboy pics to me :1orglaugh

TheViper 04-02-2003 06:02 AM

BUMP :thumbsup

There IS NO SUCH THING AS PUBLIC DOMAIN! This is BS. There are artists for Hentai just like there are photographers for pictures. In fact, you will likely pay quite a bit more for a license to drawn images than for photographic images. The people who draw hentai spend HOURS on each image, as opposed to the 5-10 seconds it takes to take each photograph with a camera. They can and WILL sue you if they find out you're using their images without permission. They are covered under copyright law, just like someone who does a graphic design, takes a picture, or otherwise creates something that is "intellectual property". If you use these images without permission, you are risking the same sort of trouble you would be for "public domain" picture content. It's STOLEN. You can lose your hosting etc over it as well. License your shiat.

funkmaster 04-02-2003 07:00 AM

dude, donīt worry about hentai, it all public domain, pretty much like zmaster content !!

Loch 04-02-2003 07:04 AM

:uhoh

gothweb 04-02-2003 07:11 AM

The only things that are in the public domain are things that are released by their creator out of good will, or things whose creators have been dead for *decades*.

Yeah, and with the ones dead for decades, it's STILL possible to be sued if their family members have inherited copyright. Generally this is the case, unless they don't care. Even still.. better to know :)

Loch 04-02-2003 07:19 AM

Pay for your shit!
Only way to do it and do it well!

And then you wont have to bitch at us on icq or over the phone when your accounts or sites closes down.

buran 04-02-2003 08:12 AM

You really need to learn the art of sarcasm, which is what the people saying "who gives a shit" are using.

EVERYTHING has to be licensed. Get it through your head right now.
Go here: http://www.exclusivecontent.com and speak to Bestat. She's got good hentai, manga, and anime pictures for reasonable prices.

You really think you'd be able to take Disney images and use them without having to worry about getting sued? Same with anything else. Just because you don't know the artist or haven't heard of the company he may be with, doesn't mean you're not dealing with someone just as heavy-handed as Disney.

With all due respect I beg to differ...and so do many legal beagels...

However, you gotta know your shit before choosing to use it and in most cases what is considered public domain by the arm-chair lawyers is not....

A good reference on this is a book that can be found at nolo.com

http://www.nolo.com/lawstore/product...FC0F9F99DB505D

worth a read if you are seriously considering using 'any' public domain material...unless you are a fan of reactive legal positioning as opposed to a proactive approach :)

Of course PUBLIC DOMAIN exists. There is software, fiction, art, photography, etc.. in the public domain. You just have to be careful not to assume something is public domain.

I worded this a little generally. I was referring more specifically to the uses Shadow was referring to, and the assumption about where most people get their "public domain" stuff (newsgroups, etc). :) My bad.
