look guys.. pretty much ALL flu's originate in China or close by. Because of poor sanitation in a billion mostly poor people, the constant exposure to livestock creates a "flu engine". We're still waiting the next real flu epidemic. A million people died in '58, and another million in '68, both traced to China. SARS ain't shit. The Chinese know it's not the US because they've had their people die from epidemics several times from conditions that they created. And we never even considered terrorism because A, they're not that advanced, and B, someone would have had the map back to front when launching it. |
gotta agree with you on that one, it´s pretty much the media that causes the hype, irak got kinda boring ... and now we have a new topic.

Funny.
In 1918, quite a few people suggested that the flu pandemic was intentionally caused by the Germans. |
during WW I that was ... that´s right colin, and bismark called the german soldiers that were hospitalized "schlappschwänze" ... which means something like "lazzy bastards" !!

If anyone was going to create an agent for germ warfare, they would make something much more virulant and with a much higher mortality rate than SARS. Only about 5% of people contract SARS actually die. Not only that, but it's not NEARLY as easy to contract as 50,000 other germ agents that are much more virulant are. Small Pox for example, can be spread by using blankets etc of infected victims MONTHS after the fact. SARS has a life outside the body of 3-4 hours, must be contained in droplets, etc etc. I will give Saddam and his flunkies more credit and assume they would use something much more effective.. Hell, Anthrax at least has some sort of a "shelf-life" and can be stored for longer periods of time for transportation/infection. Not every single thing that comes along is a "germ warfare" agent. As humanity cuts down the rainforests and gets into territory that has been, to this point, relatively unexplored, they will contract more and more of these diseases. There can be viruses dormant in dirt for THOUSANDS of years... all it takes is one putz with a chainsaw to come along, stir up the dirt, breathe some in, and we have a new epidemic. I'd be more worried about that, frankly.

It's sad to see how paranoid people get.
