RAP Music: Music industry's Affirmative Action for untalented black male musicians.
What has happened to male black singers and song writers?
As you read these names below, you will instantly hear melodies, great songs and great lyrics in your mind with each artist: Prince, Michael Jackson, Jimi Hendrix, Marvin Gaye, Sly Stone, Rick James, Smokey Robinson and B.B. King. (just to name a few) Now.... read thru these names: Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Jay Z, Snoop Dog and Sean Combs. Now ask yourself, did you get the same feeling you just did reading the prior list? How in the hell has this happened? All these great singers and songwriters replaced with untalented, angry, hypocritical assholes that can't write a song or a melody if their life depended on it. Is this simply the music industry's affirmative action for these sorry ass performers that have no talent other than being able to talk, rhyme a few words and grab their dicks on stage? "Awe, the poor black man can't write a song, but that's ok, he can speak, and rhyme, so let's cut him some slack." Sure a rap song now and then at a club is cool, or a house party, or during a commercial, or at the end of a movie, (which seems to be the norm now) but it's been played to death for so many years it's turning into a social nightmare. The angry rap hypocrisy doesn't play true anymore. Young black men growing up admiring these no talented fools, thinking this is what music is all about, will just continue to suppress and keep real talented black artists down. Where is the next Stevie Wonder or Marvin Gaye going to come from if all black kids wanna do is talk shit, grab their dicks and rhyme words? All these rappers do is talk about how fucked up the world is, while wearing gold chains, making more money than anybody will ever see in their life time, start fake wars for publicity to sell shitty cd's and then retire, selling tshirts and Nike's. Nothing to do with real music. It just makes me sick every time I watch a music award show, and see rapper after rapper doing the same shit over and over and over again, talking shit, grand standing, saying racist nonsense with angry negative over tones all the while patting themselves on the back proclaiming how great they are. It's black social insanity. Real black people don't act like that, so how in the hell do these untalented assholes get away with this horseshit? Did all black people fall asleep and give up on music? Do they think rap is all they get and all they can accomplish? It's time to start writing music with real lyrics and real melodies. But this isn't going to happen as long as these no talented rapping idiots dominate the market with their hate and unintelligent angry lyrics. Art form? Please. Anybody can rap... Let's see.... what rhymes with street?... oh, how about beat? Fear, Beer... Bitch, Ditch..... Dam I'm so talented, now where is my Nike deal and which Kardashian do I get to fuck? |
It's to make the audience believe they can do that, which they can, and become famous. Watch X Factor to see how it works.

There are still as many black song writers but now there are more rappers than ever before
|
people who don't like rap music don't listen to it, therefore are ignorant to the fact that it is one of the most versatile music genres.
You list Dr. Dre. The man is musical genius. The beats / music he produces are mostly masterpieces... The little details of all the sounds... it's all perfectly produced. Song start @ 0:44 Also catch the brilliant outro music. I agree about the rap music that is now popular, like talentless hacks Drake, Lil Wayne etc. |

This post is weird. For some reason you are fixated on rap as the only music that black men are making today or wanting to make today.
To counter your second list though, Dr. Dre is one of the more talented and respected producers in the music industry. Kendrick Lamars albums - To Pimp A Butterfly and Untitled are absolute genius, blending hip hop, jazz and funk. D'angelo - Black Mesiah is another wicked good album. Prince being his role model, D'angelo played every instrument on this album so he could have complete creative control on making HIS music. Gary Clark Jr, Kamasi Washington, QuestLove etc, I could go on and on... |

Beyonce has talent, she can sing, her voice is beautiful. Some of her songs are good, most aren't. Dr. Dre has produced great beats and great songs. Kendrick Lamar has some stuff that is worth a listen. But they aren't on the same level as some of the artists from the past.
But the OP makes a point that they don't make music like they used to, and its true. Top 3 song and artist of all time in my opinion. We need more of this. If you haven't heard this song before do yourself a favor and listen to it a few times. Noone is making music like this anymore |
Twerking and big asses = affirmative action for black females.
But it still doesn't look sexy, no matter how many white girls promote it. |

Name 2 songs from Dr. Dre that even compare to any 2 songs from these REAL musical geniuses: Prince, Michael Jackson, Jimi Hendrix, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, B.B. King. Please. Talking into a mic, rapping over other peoples background music, rhyming words, does not qualify as genius. Anybody can do that. Dre should try writing and ORIGINAL melody or lyrics that are not hate based. These rappers feed off of people's anger. They sell anger to angry people. It's not music at all and it doesn't take half a brain to talk tough and rhyme words into a mic. It's the black kids that suffer the most thinking "this is black culture, it's my culture so it must be cool." It's not cool. It's just no talented angry black men with no talent other than the drive to be rich and successful. They are anger pimps. |

Nothing but a bunch of urban cry babies with no talent making money based on anger. Very sad. I miss Motown. Songs. Melodies. Lyrics. Real art and music created by talented people; and not by bunch of low life overweight diabetic gold chain wearing losers patting themselves on the back. |
It's very simple. It isn't just about black singers/artists, it is an across the board issue in the music industry.
The music industry used to develop artists who made art. Now they sell a product. There was a time, not too long ago, where a record label would sign a band or singer and let them record a few albums, tour, and work to develop their craft and an audience. Now many acts get signed and the first thing the record company does is put out a single. If the single does well, the act makes a record, if not, they may be dumped before they even make an album. |
its almost as though the USA failed its black population by oppressing them for 100-s of years by treating them like 4th class citizens and then the resulting anger found a market...
|
Not all rap is crap, like rhyme you gotta put in the time, find something to say and make it pay, bitches hoes, you know how shit goes...
But seriously, there are some more than decent rap stuff, have a listen to Dr Dre The Message. |
There is more soul in some rap songs than anything else .
