Yeah, US had a lot of practice doing this in the Caribbean and in Latin America. Now its being exported to the Middle East.
Funny thing this DEMOCRACY.... We want it if the results are in our favor, we SUPPRESS it if it isn't... Just look at the official US silence at Algeria. Democratic Elections in Algeria would have produced a radicalized Islamic majority. Election results voided by military.
On a more disturbing level... DEMOCRACY is not going to produce peace in many regions of the world where a small demographic minority control the vast majority of a country's wealth. Lebanese in coastal west africa, chinese in south east asia, etc etc. If there were real DEMOCRACIES here, these minorities would be toast.
It is sad but true... LIBERAL DEMOCRACY...ie., a democracy propped up by a civil society under equal protection of law is very rare.
So it probably would be wise to think twice about "EXPORTING" democracy because the unintended consequences may be a BITCH!
